It isn't the V10 that will limit the truck, but the size of the truck.
The straight 6 in my FJ40 weighs more than the V10 but the small size of the Cruiser makes up for it.

that is so true!
a smaller body truck will have more eficiency on the trails (especialy tight trails) than a CC long bed dually any day. although the V10 might have more power, the jeep will have an easier time turning and negotiating threw tight spots!
me personaly the BIGGEST vehicle i would set up for trail riding is a 1/2 ton short bed truck. power to weight ratio is pretty good, and manuverability isn't bad, second choice is a toyota style truck, with a V6 or Small Block conversion, more power to weight ratio, and more manuverability!
sorry about only having a few pics, i had some kickin trail pics before our computer took a hit. i'll have to get a groupe together to go get some more, hahaha!!
Not trying to spoil the party but I think I've seen a number of posts involving moisture at the COPs... The impression I distinctly get is that if you run through "occasional lakes" you're going to have "occasional problems"!

And this is exactly why (insert your deity of choice here) made dielectric grease.
Or WD40, if you don't mind the mess

I've thrown mud over the cab, over the hood, in the bed, in the trees....but never, ever got mud on the engine.

Up on the west side of Michigan there is a state park full of sand dunes. There is a business up there that does nothing but give dune rides up very large steep white soft sand dunes. The only vehicles they run are customized F250, V-10, 4X4's. It's an awesome ride, especially if you are hanging on in the back seat behind the rear axle.

I have several pics of my V10 F250 and V10 Excursion off roading in the sand dunes at Pismo beach in California. They do great. My fav. pic. is my F250 running a bowl.
I'm a farmer, so a lot of my use is in the dirt, and, if you go off road, be sure you bite the bullet and buy the M/T rubber for it. Once I got my Coopers put on it made a new rig out of it.
Here's a "salute" to you for farming. I come from a long line of farmers. My family's farms in NC are long gone now due to economics/land values, etc. My wife's family farms a couple of hundred acres in Ohio. I wish you good weather and excellent yields for many years.
i have a 2001 v10 and i got 33x11.50 thornbirds on it and before them i had some wrangler mt/r's and i go muddin all the time.. my buddy has a lifted cherokee and my SD will get through just as much if not more.. i love mudding in my v10
