Nice rig, but it looks like it would be a rolling brick wall. What kind of mileage do you get with the camper on it? I'm sure it's not a huge concern for you, I'm just curious.

I get 12 mpg with the crusie control set at 60 mph (2000 RPM) on the interstate, versus 14 mpg without the camper.
Hey 280fx, question. Doe the rear window mate up with any porthole on the camper body so that my dogs could get from the cab to the camper while we are moving ?I lov your setp and am considering one myself. Thanks. Peter

Yes, the rear window does line with up a porthole on my Bigfoot; and also with most truck campers that I have seen. You can also get a seal between the rear window and the porthole that is like an inflatable childs intertube. But I don't use one since the gap is only about 2" on mine. Good luck Peter.
Nice rig 280fx! I was down at our local Bigfoot dealer when just the spec's were out on the 450 and they were licking their chops over it and the fact it could actually carry these heavier campers (makes you wonder how many 1 tons are overloaded going down the road, doesn't it?!). What did you have the 3000 Bigfoot on before you got the F450? Assume you got the 4.30s as well?
Happy trails...

Hey diesel_dan,
I had a 2006 Silverado 3500 DRW Duramax,6 speed Allison, extended cab with 3.73's, and it carried the Bigfoot fairly good. The Duramax had the edge on power and torque, but the F-450 beats it in every other area. With the 19.5" tires and larger brakes, I fell much more confident with the braking performance which is really important when you carry a camper this heavy. I can definetly feel an improvement with the ride, handling and turning radius. I no longer need airbags and there is almost no side-to-side sway when trucks pass me on the interstate. Overall, the F-450 feels much better and I don't feel like I am on the edge of it's limits. BTW, I do have the 4.30's.
Is that a 3000 series Bigfoot I see in your signature?
