Finished the Black & Clear Today

It starts Here: http://www.classicmako.com/forum/top...TOPIC_ID=16825

Well you can't tell a lot from the pix's, but at least it's got all the color and Clear on it.

I got a late start,as I had to pick up the Black paint today. My supplier Johnson Supply ran out last week. They do the Black in gal Factory packs then break it down. $30qt is my price on the Black.

Anyway I got started spraying at 11:00 today. Finished the last coat of Clear at 6:15. Latter than I wanted

But I have stuff to do tomorrow evening and need to be rested.

I'll peel the tape tomorrow morning.

Looks good. Is the HF gun regular or HVLP? It doesn't appear like there is too much black all over the garage.

The truck is pretty straight already. Not near as much as I usually do.

Well it's to bright outside. The pix's came out Crappy.

I'll take some more latter and see if they come out better?

It sure did make a change in this sucker. []

The Ford Blue Dot look's like it's floating in the middle of the grill now and the Classic Mako tag even match's everything now.

Windshield molding all Blacked out, as well as the antenna.

The power mirrors were Chrome and Gray. Blacked out the Gray looks even better and will be easier to keep looking good.

Looks good. I was wondering about painting inside my shop and making a big mess. What kind of area prep did you do before you painted it to control the mess?

Plastic sheeting / visqueen covering all my stuff.

I can NOT stress this enough. DO NOT paint at night. The F@*king bugs will do touch and go's or stick and leave p@#ker tracks in your paint.

I here you on the not paining at night. I remember about 20 years ago My uncle restored a 64 Galaxy XLT convertable. He did all the body work and got that thing straight. He painted it one night and locked the shop up. When he came out the next morning there was one of those big helicopter mosquitos spread eagle in the drivers door. He was about sick. He had to wait about a week before he could sand it out and repaint it. He went on to win several shows with that car. It was beautiful, shiny black with a black drop top and restored factory red interior.

I had also thought about the plastic sheeting. Thanks for the info.
