Fan Clutch?

Fan Clutch?
Recently started having a "roar" when going down the highway. (No Load) No RPM change, EGT temp and Trans temps little higher than last summer (600 and 170). After doing some research on the site figured out that it must be the fan clutch cycling on and off. However, mine only comes on 5-10 secs then off, wait 30 sec to 1 minute and back on 5-10 secs. Don't see temp drop on any of the gauges. (EGT, Trans, water)
After getting home, pop the hood and check the fan for resistance (got some, so good, right?) Now the real problem. Truck sat in the driveway over the weekend, popped the hood and checked the fan, SAME RESTANCE. Read that belts might be the problem, got a new Motorcraft 12K miles ago.
Bad fan clutch?? If so, where is the best place to get a new one. What about Hayden clutches?
Thanks to all!

I just changed mine, there are lots of places to get them but the cheapest MOTORCRAFT one is on fordparts.com 193$, i was told not to trust one that wasnt a motorcraft. There is an insane testing procedure to see if yours is working right but what im told is if youve got over 100k and havent changed it, u need to. Thats supposedly their life expectancy, especially if you live somewhere HOT where is comes on often. Between the new one and my old one the resistance isnt that different but mine old one would come on and stay on, now it comes one and usually only stays on for 20 seconds or so, and it never comes on, while on the interstate.

Anyone know what is should cost to have one of these r and r'd at a stealership? Or is it something an older fellow with very limited tools can do in his driveway. Mine is about to blow apart and I am actually afraid to drive it anymore at all. Any special tools required, etc. etc. Thanks in advance for all the great answers I know I am going to get.

I need my truck for work right now. So I do not have time to order parts online. I am going to take a chance with a lifetime guarantee one from Pep Boy's for 185.00 and have the stealership install it for me for 99.00. Yes, I am surprised they will install my parts, they want 354.00 for their OEM. But I will have it done by noon tomorrow.
