Cool How to clean black

I have a black super duty and i hate the color.Black is such a horrible color to keep shined up. Does anyone have any serious pointers on the right type of wax or polish that will make it shine and not look hazy or cloudy.Right now i use the turtle wax silcone liquid ice.I really dont have any scatches or dents.Im just lookin for some thing that will give make my jaw drop instead of feeling like i wasted hours on a crappy streaky hazy job.Ive tried the meguiars 3 step and also i tried pinnacle paste glaz but they all didnt make it really shine.Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks

For shiny you need a polish. As far as show cars go, Zainos has a big following especially with black cars. But you need to polish it to get it to shine. I use mother's products, and have always had good luck with mother's reflections polish.

Well you can take it to a pro detailer but if you want to do it yourself wash it real good with a good car wash soap, be careful not to scratch it. Claying is impotent, if it does have scratches or dull you should use a polisher like a porter cable oscillating one. Polymers as in sealers tend to haze over a graze if not done right. If you just want a quick detail then use a cleaner wax/sealer. A nice looking car is 99% preparation 1% wax.

I have been using two 3m products and couldn't be happier, first is Perfect-it 3000 Ultrafina SE, part# 06068. It is a swirl remover and then top it off with Perfect-it Show Car Liquid Wax, Ultra High Gloss Finish. I am having to re-wax about every 6 weeks, which is far better than anything else I have tried, I have always been a fan of Mcquires products but a black truck in south Florida in the middle of July it just wasn't getting it done.

I too have tried various products. I'm fixing to try the adams polish products next. I live in swfl ,and the sun and heat is terrible on black vehicles. I've had good luck with Meguires , but doesnt last long.

I have a black F150 and one of the biggest steps is drying the truck with a quality microfiber towel. If I wait too long I get serious water spots. If I use a cheap towel I get swirls and scratches. Ice works good, but I question how long it lasts. It applies quickly so Its no a big deal.

Meguaries clay bar works wonders and makes paint smooth as glass and have a smooth pollish for about 2 weeks...

I've yet to do the clay bar but I use Maguiar's Liquid Tech Wax and it looks great...like a rub on Laquer and lasts me about 3 1/2 weeks.

Try Zymol. It's an old formula carriage wax from Germany............You just wax the vehicle with it, then you spray a fine mist of water to the already buffed surface, and it gives a great shine..................you need to do this about 4-5 time a year though.

Let us know how it comes out.

wait a minute! I forgot half my post: After you spray the vehicle, you again buff it until it is dry. This step does not take long at all, and I think you will be happy.
