Rockies baby!
Now is the time to do it. You will spend less money on them and never have troubles.
All that stuff aside, Dave you are not gonna beat this truck too hard, why not run the 44? For the kind of wheeling you are gonna do with this rig, why not just run what you got?

I was not suggesting you go out and get "gold plated" rockwells. dang that is plain foolish. You can buy a front and rear set for less than you will spend on a front
chro-mo 60 alone.

Yeah thats right. I saw a set of front and rears with new brakes for $1200 when I was looking for my D60 front. I had the same problem a few weeks ago. Spend $700 on chromo D44 shafts or spend $$$ for a D60. If you are lucky you can find a D60 front relitively cheap. I just got back last night from Ohio (600miles) to buy my D60 front rear and NP205 x case for $700. Food Hotel and gas Ive got about $1000 in it.
It was too good of a deal to pass up...EVILBay at times pays off. My deciding factor was Ill break Chromo D44 shafts before I break stock D60 stuff usually. It all depends on what youve got. Daily driver...buy stock shafts or maybe chromos. Toy...buy chromos. Crazy @ss like myself...buy a 60 and chromos

Id venture to say NO highboy that is street legal is worth $80k. Maybe Bigfoot 1 for historic significance but certainly not your adverage 73-77 F250 with rockwellls even in its prime in A+ #1 shape. Tell him hes crazy or show him this Ebay # 320135727696

Ok i bought a 77 highboy a couple weeks ago for parts. I really just need the divorced transfer. I was goin to use the front spring mounts but now im lookin towards the SD parts &%F350 told me about. So i goto a buddies house today and hes gota jacked up 77 150 with a nice 351 /np435/np205 combo and the dual tank tool box bed. Hes wantin to trade for the highboy. So i tell him that i need the divorced transfer and crossmember so he says take it and hell find a new one. Think its a good trade? The highboy frame is no good at all its rusted out both sides from the cab mounts back but he still wants it.

IT COULD be a real decent truck. The price isnt all that bad considering it comes with a spare axle if Im reading it correctly. Its just hard to know what type of gremlins it has. A leaking military master cylinder or some pieced together junk could be trouble to correct. The only downfall of rockwells is the 6.71 gears. Even with 44s you will be turning like 3000 rpms at 55. 54" Boggers would be a different story and extremely exciting

BTW. Please dont take offense. I was not degrading your friend or his truck. Im just stating my opinion.

Wow, did you see the front axle on that thing. It has about 4" blocks with about four 1/2" steel plates stacked on top.
