ok ive been reading about the K&N filter oil contaminating the air mass sensor...is this a very common problem and if so does it cause alot of damage or engine power loss?

Bear in mind this seems to be one of those self-perpetuating stories on the internet. There are likely dozens of readers here that have K&Ns with no problems. I've use a K&N on a MAF-equipped 460 for some time now with no contamination issues or visible dirt passing by it.

Now, if someone were to wash out their K&N and re-oil it sopping wet with oil, even the wrong kind of oil, yes, I could see where oil from it could and would get sucked into the intake system and MAF sensor. And there's no doubt that some meatheads have done exactly that, then blamed the "filter" for gunking things up.

That's my cut at it.

same thing here, I got K+n's on all our Farm trucks, and a couple of cars, no MAF problems here.
