Supercharger on Stock EFI 302?

I posted this in the 302 forum too, got a few replies. However, I thought I might get a few more replies from this forum too. Would it be a lot for a stock 302 efi to handle 6 psi of boost from a supercharger with 84k mi on it?

Primary rig is Green Thunder:
95' F-150 XLT 4x4, 302, 5 spd, MSD 6A, Sunroof, CD player with 2 10" subs and some 32" BFG Muds .

Check out my Gallery for a look-see.

Then theres:
99' Mustang GT 4.6L
88' F-250 Superduty 4x4 351/c6
95' Mercury Cougar 4.6L V-8
80' E-350 300/6 with a
3 spd column shifter. Top speed is 65mph, Go Baby Go!

Supercharger on Stock EFI 302?

I'm liking the Kenne Bell twin screw supercharger as opposed to the powerdyne and vortech. Any thoughts?

15 psi? gees. How much hp you have running out of that thing, and should I even ask what your gas mileage is?

it makes near 430 at rear wheels. and 530 ftlb torque. never really payed attention to my mileage. i figure if youre gonna supercharge something you really shouldnt worry all that much about mileage. if you stay off the gas youll be near stock mileage anyway.

Yeah, i'm not very concerned with mileage. I keep track so I know, but I don't really care. I only drive about 6-7k mi a year and its all city driving so my mileage stinks anyway. I wonder how bad that supercharger eats gas if you're hard on it, keeping the RPMS up and the boost up. Maybe it's something I will get to find out on my own soon hehe. I like how i can drive under 2,000 rpm and even a little over (with a little boost) and have it almost like the supercharger isn't there so it rides like stock while cruizing. The only time i'm on the highway is when I take my 3-4 hour trips up to maine towing a trailer.

That is amazing! To produce that much torque at such a low rpm and still have over 300 pounds of torque at 5200 is great. I would love to see your truck to the quarter.

Supercharger on Stock EFI 302?

back in april the truck ran 12.2 & 106. that was with a 1.69 60ft time. it should go 11s this year most likely in cold october air. im having a seriuos fuel delivery problem. it is very lean like around 13.5:1 a/f ratio. which is dangerous for a s/c motor. so if i can get that ratio a little richer i should be able to squeak near 450 hp outta this brick....well see. im goin back to my tuner for some more dyno runs at the end of this month.

Supercharger on Stock EFI 302?

Premature engine wear is caused by erratic driving styles. A supercharger is actually good for your engine. Under normal driving conditions most people will see an improvement on gas economy because it helps your engine work less harder to produce power. So if your engine works not as hard you are not putting as much strain on the engine. Boost is not a cause of premature engine wear it the racing and towing which actually causes the harm. The supercharger is actually very efficient for your engine.

Supercharger on Stock EFI 302?

Donít worry Iím not taking any offence to your question. Growing up I raced and fixed up cars as a hobby. My passion then lead to a career in which I deal with nothing but force injected vehicles. The information that I receive is purely based on proven theory of manufactures, books, tech advice or trail and error. As for this topic a lot of people donít realize that a supercharger system will not affect the engines durability. In fact as a general rule, the worst thing you can do is over rev and engine. Supercharged engines operate in vacuum almost all the time, unlike turbo systems. When in boost, at full throttle, the forces on the engine are still lower than the rotational forces. Thatís why a supercharger actually increases and engine efficiency.
