Thumbs up Ford Pre-Paid Maintenance Plan

Just bought the Ford Maintenance Plan for my F-350 Diesel. Thought this plan was great for the price of $2200 for 6 years 97000 miles.

What do you guys think about the Plan and have you ever used it?

<TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 width=760 align=center border=0><TBODY><TR><TD><TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 border=0><TBODY><TR><TD vAlign=top><TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 border=0><TBODY><TR><TD class=BodyText vAlign=top halign="center"><TABLE cellPadding=2 width="100%" border=0><TBODY><TR><TD>Ford ESP Premium Maintenance Plan (PMP) (brochure - pdf file) covers a comprehensive list of manufacturer-recommended scheduled maintenance items (oil changes, air filters, fuel filters, tire rotations, transmission service, etc.) PMP gives you the security of knowing that your vehicle is getting the proper maintenance when it needs it. Simply purchase a PMP and then visit your local Ford or Lincoln-Mercury dealer to have all your vehicle's maintenance performed. With a PMP, all your maintenance is "pre-paid" for, and you do not pay for maintenance when visiting your local Ford dealer.

Please note: this plan must be purchased within the first 12 months or 12000 miles of the original in-service date.

love mine. It just suck having to remove my programmer every 3-4 monthes. Also make sure you take it in regardless of miles or you lose some of your scheduled services.

Nice of your dealer to give you the Inflated prices. Lets look at what it costs to do it yourself.

Oil Change:
14Qts Oil at 2.47/Qt = $34.58 + Oil Filter (On Sale $3.50/Ea) Total cost w/Tax = $41.12 x 18 Changes == $740.16
[If you have to buy oil filters not on sale add $12/Oil Change = $216]

Fuel Filter Change:
Fuel filters at IH Dealer $34.00 x 6 Changes == $204

5K mile service:
Rotate Tires == Free

15K mile service:
Rotate Tires == Free
Change Transmission bypass filter and top off fluid
Filter = $12.00 + 1 Qt Mercon SP = $5.00 = $17.00 x 3 Changes == $51.00

30K mile service:
Flush transmission and change filters
Filters = $12 + $20 = $32
20Qts Mercon SP = $100
Total cost for trans flush and filters $132 x3 == $396

75K Air Filter $54.00

There is no coolant flush and refill until 100k miles

Total cost to do it yourself = $1446

All depends on where you want to spend your money and if you want to do it yourself. If you do it yourself you can save $750

Ok you forgot Wiper Blades,Shocks,Belts, Brake Pads and Linings,Clutch Disc and Tire Rotating this is also part of the Maint Plan. I think for the Money its well worth it.

Transmission fluid and Filter should be done at 30k, 60k, and 90k.

Hmmm.

I included Three Transmisson flushes with filters (every 30K) plus i included changing just the bypass filter every 15K.

Shocks, belts are good for the mileage, your Automatic transmission does not have a Clutch Disc and i included tire rotations.

For wiper blades add $10/year = $50

May need front brake pads and you may not if you do need front pads, they can be done yourself for less than $100

This is still a savings of $600 doing the work yourself.

Hey if you are happy with the plan that is fine, you asked for opinons in your poll and posted a Seriously overinflated price rate for those services from any authorized FMC Dealer.

I think it all depends on weather you would do the maintenance yourself. If you would pay someone else to do those things anyway then it's worth it. If not then your wasting your money. Windshield wipers are cheap. My brakes are still on my truck at 223,000, my clutch didn't start to slip until 212,000, and you will end up changing tires where you can get free rotation before the 97,000 miles are up anyway.

When I bought my truck new a year and a half ago, I bought the plan at the same time. My reasoning was more to do with this being my first Diesel and not being familiar with it. I had also done some research and knew that proper maintenance was critical. It was worth it for the piece of mind. With all I have learned about it (from using and working on it, and mostly from this site) I would probably not buy one again. I have always done my own maintenance. But again, piece of mind on a first of its kind for me, and an expensive investment... Once additional thought, it has also given me a chance to meet the techs at the dealership several times already.

Nope . . .

Also keep in mind that they have you prepay it so they have your money for the 5 years or so. Has to be worth a few hundred dollars in loss of use, etc. Also wippers in Tx are only 5.35 includu=ing tax.

Well worth doing it yourelf if you are so inclined.
