Ac Stopped Working

Hey guys, just yesterday my AC stopped working, fan blows and heater still works. I opened up the hood and noticed that the AC CLUTCH/COMPRESSOR does not engage. Is the AC clutch suppose to engage once in a while or do nothing? I've checked my fuses and all are fine. I could use some info, thanks.

DId you check the 'fat man pants' fuses? (big square deals, under the hood in the fuse box, usually pastel colors, pink, yellow, etc).

Also you can try to run a 'self diagnostics' on the EATC Brain, see if it comes up any codes.

1) Measure static charge with a gauge. You must have a minimum of 45 psi (80-120 is desired) in able to initially "make" the pressure switch. If good, go to step 2.

2) Locate the cycling switch on the accumulator can on the firewall. Disconnect the connector and insert a jumper into the harness connector. If the compressor clutch engages, the switch is bad.

3) With the jumper still installed and the engine running and the AC turned on, hit the face of the clutch with a rubber mallet or a broomstick. If it engages, the air gap has worn too much. Remove a shim.

Beyond that, you're going to need more in-depth troubleshooting which will require a meter and a lot more digging around.

The three items above will usually account for more than 80% of AC failures in F-series and the ExpyGators.
