not to start bashing the 5.4L, but I drove one (very briefly) the other day on our logging block (company truck). The roads are all gravel and I couldnt even break the tires loose...and this truck had less than 35k miles on it. I didnt get it winding right up but the amount of throttle I gave it I expected some rocks to fly and be put back in my seat.
The 2v 5.4 is a dog. I have a lot of mods on mine, but it doesn't break loose on hard roads. Sence the gears though, it will push you back in the seat a little.
funny, my truck will posi on pavement with a little bit of rain, and always break loose on a dirt road. this is a 2v 5.4 373 ls rear end and 35's
Same with my truck except mine is a 2V 4.6 3.55 open rear, I can get only one to spin in the rain, but on gravel I can leave dual tracks and even get the truck to slide to the side a little. This is with 255/70R16 tires wich are about 30" tall.
If it is a '04+ then he has the throttle by wire and therefore they are terrible off the line. My NPI 5.4L will break the tires loose easily, although before I put a tuner and lots of other stuff on it it was much harder.
my 97 with the 2v 4.6 will spin them when i want ive got 33in buckshot mudders dunno how that affects it, can spend them sometimes on the road but on anything offroad theyll break free easy, especially on gravel.. o and i have the 3.73 LS
