The real sad part is this world still has wars.

You'd a thought after all the distruction and death from the Vietnam War and the first and second world wars we as a planet would have figured out how to resolve our problems more constructively.

That's the sad part to me.

as long as there is 2 human beings left on the earth, there will be disagreements...then there will be fights, then a war...its sad, but its humanity...

if thats an invitation for enlistment, you've got to work on your wording...

frankly, in my feeble little mind, i think they should build a huge wall of some sort around those problematic middle east countries, get the heck out of there and let the people destroy themselves. there's no way canada or the us will ever accomplish anything over there with the current terms of war/peace keeping...thats just what goes on in my little mind...

I have to agree Sherm but remember that there are alot of innocent people over there that need protection.
I don`t know what to suggest but it seems a waste of our young soldiers lives at the same time.

yeah thats true Fom. way to many innocent people, and cowardly MEN in those parts. its a hard war to figure out. maybe develop some sort of superbug that can detect the evil in the minds of human beings and take them out one by one. then the innocent goes unharmed. hmmm...that sounds like a good idea for a new movie

You and Fomoko have hit the nail on the head IMO. It's not our war to fight, ( yes and I realize that innocent people are dying ) but the writting has been on the wall for years that we cannot change people that have been raised ( brainwashed )to know any better.

Once again, just my .02

Example would be trying to tell a Canadian beer is bad, come on now!

As for your superbug analogy and the new movie idea, isn't the new Rambo movie coming out soon?

very true Smiggs, most of them probably don't even know what they are fighting about anymore.

It was meant as a comment against naivette which is something a lot of Canadians show plenty of these days.

Terrorist's can show up anywhere in the world.

Liberal supporters would be the first people to blame the gov't if a group of terrorists attacked and blew up and killed people on the subways of T.O. or Montreal.

Canadian's have ALWAYS gone to where they're needed to help people who can't help themselves.

Perhaps less emotion and more common sense is required to understand why our troops are there

i am in 100% agreement with you man!! the problem is, terrorists have already accomplished their task. the quest of a terrorist is to inflict terror in the minds and lives of innocent people. many of us live each day with the fear of another major city comming under attack...hence, mission accomplished. now all they want is for the civilized world to fall under their feet...

thank God for those who are out there with a stiff and strong back, proving that we will remain.

Two more Canadian soldiers have been killed bringing the total to 69, that`s too many young lives cut so short.

At least there will be about 100 Edmonton-based soldiers returning home Sunday night from their six-month tour in Afghanistan.
