fastest aerostar in the world

This is exactly like my shop vehicle. I have an 86 Aerostar, and I'm swapping the drivetrain out, and looking at 4WDs, and engines. So can anyone find a 5.0 Aerostar out there? I am planning on turbocharging a 4.0, and running it on propane. Why propane you ask?

The higher the octane you have in your tank, the higher the boost you can run. Propane has an octane rating of 130RON. It also has more energy than gas, so it makes the perfect fuel for turbocharging or supercharging. It is also really cold from the compression, so it cools down the air charge, after it's been through the intercooler(s).

My big concern is the tranny, what is the strongest tranny you can fit in an Aerostar? Would a C4 fit?

actually the faster areostar has a 472 big block for din it and it had 6 foot tires on it. its a monster truck, and i think it was driven by a lady. if it were me, i would take a windstar, lower center of gravity, and put a 514 ford behind the front seats backed by a built c6, and tub the rear for fat tires, then built a cold air induction that comes from the sides, and then see how much of the stock looking interiour i could get back in there. then i would go rice hunting with my minivan.

Now that would be something to see at a stoplight. A minivan with slicks 15"wide, exhaust to make a shelby jealous, and vibrating like a top fueler.
Will someone please do that!
And, since the engine would be close to the rear axle, it would pull hellacious wheelstands.
hm, do you think I could make a ford hemi fit in the bed of my ranchero?

Now thats a good idea! Use an Olds Toronada transaxle though it was made to take the torque of a big block, and it would let you mount it transversely, and keep a good weight distribution for good handling!

I just want a turbo 4.0, but if I can get a 5.0 in there, I'll be really happy... In fact, tomorrow I'm gonna go check clearance

So aside from a tube frame monster truck, has anyone seen a quick Aerostar out there? Come on, it can be lightened a lot, it's RWD/4WD, it has a 4 liter EFI engine with direct ignition!

Depends on your opinion of what's quick. I have a computer chip, flowmaster exhaust, 225/55-16"wheels, and modified my breathing box by installing a new bullet grill and improving the airway and filter.
Its definately quicker! But until I pull the engine and blueprint it and increase the cylinder bore - I doubt that I would really call it quick. I do dust windstars -big deal - of course they paid an extra 15 grand for that bloated piece of ---

Hey, the myth of the possibility of a fast aerostar never dies.
