sky manufacturing shackle flip kit

I started to install it yesterday and ran into a few problems..

1) does anyone have the part # for passenger side rear shackle on my '78? I had to cut both ends of the bolt off to get it out. I'm going to try the air hammer on a little later, but doubt I'll have much luck.

2) The brackets are too big in the back.. they hit my bumper brackets. Can I safely cut some material out of the sky pieces so it will clear my bumper brackets or does anyone have some other suggestions?

thanks for any tips/help

as beefy as they are i garauntee you can. just dont go hacking out chunks!

just go to ford and tell them what you need. i would be willing to bet they are the exact ones i just bought for $32 for the pair and they fit like 76-96 trucks with 2.5" rear springs. but dont hold me to it.

I decided to cut the bumper brackets instead. Bumper doesn't get used for anything and I have tow points bolted on the frame, besides it was only about 1/4inch I needed to cut out.

The shackle is giving me fits though. I found them on JBG so I might just go that route, as I'm sure the dealer will have to order it anyway. I tried drilling and the air hammer on the thing and it won't budge.

oo and before I forget, which hole is recommened for better shackle angle on the sky pieces? I know this has been covered before in here, but I can't seem to pull up the thread with the search function.

i used the forward most hole and my shackle angle was decent. had to move the front mounts to get it just right!

Yeah, you just drill the factory holes out to 1/2inch and it bolts right up.

On my truck the pieces didn't clear the bumper bracket so I had to cut some of that off.

On the sky piece there are two holes you can use to mount the spring shackle depending on where you want your shackle angle to be. I believe the desired angle is 45*, but i'm sure fishy will correct me if I'm wrong on that..

Its personal prefference/imtended use... 45º is ideal for most applications, including street usage. I have my rears at 40-ishº, I won't tell you what my fronts are at

usually to get a good shackle angle the sky brackets need to be moved foward a bit from the factory holes
