Cabin airfilter..

Does the 2002 Explorer have a cabin air filter? I tried a seach and didn't find much info. My problem is with the fan. I have to turn the blower up to the fourth notch to get the air to flow well, anything less dosen't seem to do much. I am hoping maybe a clogged filter could be to blame.

Thanks,

Jeff

Is your blower fan running properly on the lower speeds? if not, check blower motor resistor

I had the smae problem, sounds like the resistor motor, on full blast there is no resistance to the blower so it works, when you turn it down it cannot reduce the current to the blower and it turns off. I am an amature and I bought the part for 30 bucks I think and replaced it in 2 hours, mine was hard to get to in a 2001 explorer.

Thanks for the replies. The blower works on the lower speeds just dosen't seem to push out much air. Would that still be caused by a bad resistor?

Thanks!

Jeff

mine did not blow at all on lower speeds.
You can pull the old one and use a volt meter to test it but it is a lot of labour (at least for my 2001) so may as well just put in a new one in my opinion.

I've replaced a couple of blower fans over the years and they are not too tough... although you usually end up unbolting some stuff like the washer fluid reservoir or coolant overflow tank...

I am still wanting to find out if the 02-03 has a cabin filter? It is very easy to get distracted, and not answer the question. Does the truck have a cabin filter?

Back to the matter at hand.... I haven't been able to find any information on whether they do or not, but most vehicles that have them, you have to dig around under the passenger side dash... Often times removing the glove box or some covers under the dash to get to them.

Thanks, you would think the Owner's Guide would say if it had a filter.

"02 Explorer cabin air filter

How do I locate the cabin air filter on a 2002 Ford Explorer, Eddie Bauer Edition? I just went through a NM dust storm yesterday and now my climate control is blowing dust inside my car. Since the engine air filter was filthy, I assume the cabin air filter is also filthy however I can't find it. I also do not have an owners manual after transporting my vehicle to NM six months ago.

No cabin filter was offered for the Explorers. I read that Ford didn't even make it available in the Aviators. You'd think for the kind of money they got for Aviators and Limited/EBs they would have put one in...

There are several sites where you can download an Owners Guide. Here's one I know of: Genuine Ford and Lincoln Mercury Parts & Service

03 Explorer Fan Speed

My blower fan has never seemed to move much air either. All the speeds work but compared to my other vehicles it seems that I always have to turn the fan all the way to high to move any air. You can hear the fan change speeds but to me it seems more air should be coming out of the registers but it has always been that way so I was not sure. Any ideas or is this the norm?? thanks , Paul

I had the same problem for a long time until I replaced the blower resistor. It's pretty simple to change as long as you take your time.

Can you offer us some enlightenment or linkage? I have a similar problem which I chalked up to having the rear air stealing airflow, but mine does seem to have settings: Low, almost as low as low, slightly higher than low, and high....

Micron Air, a major OE supplier for cabin air filters does not make one for any Explorer.
