I have to say after all the fuss and complaints i have heard about custom beadlocks they are well worth it!
so i called john towards the end of march and finally put my foot down. I decided to order some nice double beadlocks i can use for a very long time. i placed my order on april 4th for a set of 16.5" x 9.75" with 4" BS, plain rock rings, #7 D- pattern pressed in centers, black powdercoat, teflon inserts, valve stems, the whole kaboodle. john told me then that he didnt have too many orders and that ETA was apprx 4-6 weeks. i thought that sounded way to early but i played along, esp after watching kubota kick and scream with Dan. i alotted 3 months b/c i knew things would come up. well long story short June 8th they arrived... however i was headed to GrayRock to do some riding so i didnt get to use them that trip. wouldnt ya know that on that very trip the very first trail out before hitting any obstacles i lost a bead, lol. had to ether it up and get it back to (many thanx to chris and byron for their assistance). so i have been procrastinating gettin them on b/c i have been back and forth b/t staying ith 39's or goin to 44's. for now i am gonna run 39's so saturday after partying hard on friday after work i decided to put them on.
SO without any further ado... here are some pics (BTW some credit goes to RawPower for the inspiration )
esp after seeing how easy it was for my tires to roll off the rim with no air pressure i am SO glad i went DB's. word of caution... if you order custom DB's make sure you are NOT on a time frame! seems none of them custom wheel guys can make a deadline. that was/is my only complaint! everything went pretty smooth!
i hope to test them out this coming weekend depending on if i can band-aid my steering!

after seeing what logjam grant did on pirate, I really want to try and make my own. Are your staz's DOT approved?
The main thing holding me back is the pressed centers, I really like that. If I did it, it would probably be just flat centered, like USA6x6 (blah) or like Logjam's
i got it caught up on a rock and bent it pretty bad last time we were at grayrock. i got it bent back temporarily but will need to do some reinforcing. i been reading up on full hydro pretty heavily. hopefully i will start piecing it together soon!
that is good stuff!

I'm glad someone finally got thro to them and bought a set from Stazworks. What does each wheel weigh without the tire? I couldn't wait, and had some H1 rims re-centered locally. They're quite heavy for this old man. Need something lighter, JSM84
