Under paint

I hope I don't sound to picky, but I have a 1 year old, F-150 Lariat with 12,000 miles on it. The other day I noticed that the rear differential paint on the back was almost gone. I crawled underneath and the paint is peeling off the rear axle, and all around the differential.
I could just sand everything down and re-paint it myself, with some good high temp paint, but I think the dealer or Ford should deal with this.
What do you all think?

i get the cheapest black semi-gloss spray paint i can find and use it on my underbody. have done it on all my vehicles and works well. nothing is going to last forever. i redid my diff. cover in the rear end yesterday actually. works well and holds up for a while. i dont sand or anything.

Yep, that is what I was really thinking myself! It is, that it is 112 degrees out now, and I hate getting sweaty!

I have seen this happen on damn near every single rear diff I have ever owned. Can't say I have looked at my 06. It certainly wouldnt hurt to bring it up with them.

Oh, and if they wont... its a great time to go with a higher capacity, finned unit for additional cooling and fluid reservoir... really extend the life of that rear unit.
