amsoil or Lucas fuel conditioner
Does anyone know much about fuel conditioner or additive. I'm currently using lucas. Talked to someone who swears by amsoil cetane boost and new diesel conditioner, two different products. the cetane boost claims to add about 7 cetane and 2% improvement in mpg. The new fuel concentrate claims to keep injectors and everything working wondeful, plus a 5% increase in mpg. it will cost$10 per 100 gallon not bad if it does what it claims.

If you use fuel conditioners expecting MPG gains then you will be dis-satisfied. 2%-5% gain on most of these trucks is less than 0.75 MPG.
Hard to get $$$$ back that way. The value is in the cleaner running engine / enhanced lubricity, and cetane value. With that said, there isn't much value to cetane gain after you punch it over a 50 rating. In some areas.he EPA mandates a 48+, such as the North Texas region. In other areas, the rating barely hits 42.
....so be aware of what your fuel rating is where you purchase it.
While I am always cautious of Amsoil's Marketing statements...most fuel conditioners have proved effective. Just make sure that it contains no alcohol... or sulfur with the 6.4. In fact, I would make sure that the label clearly states it is safe for the 6.4 or contact the mfg. first.
For my 6.0 I always used Power Service but, I have heard many that like Lucas. If you are currently using Lucas successfully, I wouldn't change.
