Ran out of gas..now misfire and P0304 code
My stupid fault. Driving on vacation, i was pushing it and waiting to get to the next exit.
CEL started flashing , misfire... CEL goes on .... about a mile later I run out of gas.
The car drove fine most of the time, but every once in awhile got a misfire.
Got home, pulled code, (P0304) cylinder 4 misfire. I don't have COP, it's a 98 expy with the 4.6 165k miles.
Is this likely a fouled injector? I drove about another 700 miles... got close to 19 on the highway..i normally get closer to 20mpg.
i thought it would be 02 sensors, but the code did not read that.
the plugs have 65k on them. The coil packs are original. I bought new plugs and a coil pack... will probably do plug first.
i fear i clogged an injector.
Fuel filter has 30k on it. Always changed at about 30-35k.

I'll try to answer my own question..
I think it was a fouled injector. I did change out Spark Plug 4... and then reconnected the battery... that cleared the CEL. Truck is running fine.
Truth is... i think on the long journey home the injector cleaned itself out... now i will just change out the other 7 plugs.... they had 65k on them... the originals went 100k...but they were shot....
the number 4 plug didn't look too bad.
I also ordered BG44k and will run a can of that through a half tank of gas.
