Question 2.5 litre Industrial Engine??

Today I went to look at an engine out of a Skyjack scissors lift. (according to seller) I am looking for a replacement 4 cyl for my 88Ranger and have been exploring my options. It is a 4cyl overhead cam motor , sticker on the timing cover says built at Lima Ohio, and built march of 1999.

I am interested in this motor if it will work in my ranger.

These are the numbers I got off the tag on rocker cover.
Serial No. 01342-1-01-99
Model No. LRG-425P-6006-A
Base Engine 9C-187-AA
Build date 03-18-1999

It had a number cast into R rear lower corner on outside of block
About 2 inches high "25L"

It had a propane mixer/evapotaor, lockoff etc, all attached. As well as a large rad and bellhousing w/mounts. It also had a control box for all the electronics but I couldn't get it open.

It turned over by hand but I couldn't hear it run.

Can anybody decifer these numbers or clue me in to what I may have stumbled onto.

If this is a 2.5, can I use it in my ranger?

Thanks for input guys. Cheers to all Canadians for the long Canada Day weekend and another one to our neighbors to the south for your Mid week holiday next week.
