Well poop on the wheels i bought...

Went and picked up 4 Al. wheels for my chassis, but while taking off the lugs I realized two things...

One is that the left side is left handed threads---ooops, forgot about that and old Mopars...and they're bigger (9/16th)...soo, have to either find a set of lugs nuts for Al wheels for left handed threads and bore out the holes in the wheels to fit, or find some steel wheels for it.

Now I have more "stuff" to trip over.

Decided "what the heck" and countersunk the holes to use the regular lug nuts, looked around and 9/16th lugs with a shank on them for mag style wheels were 2.10 apiece...so I cheaped out.

Hate to waste a good set of wheels, but to heck with it, I just wanted rollers anyway.

Hey, and the '31 is sitting "on all fours" now

Laid the cowl back on it and can get an idea for the engine mounts, have to go pull the crank out of a 360 block I have and will use it to set up the motor mounts.

All this out in the sun...just 15 feet away from shade...

and with temps hitting double digits now it will be a pain to work in the sun. Sunburn anyone? I will never understand why Mother Mopar did that left hand thread trick. I know the reason they gave, but I still don't understand it. Especially since they abandoned the idea, and nobody else) to my knowledge) did it.

Big Rigs still have the lefthanded thread...must be something to it...but IIRC, it's the passenger side on big rigs with LH threads, these axles have the LH thread on the driverside

Yeah supposedly so they would tighten when going forward. However, I have not heard too many vehicles where they loosened just because of right hand threads.
