2008 Underbed Fifth Wheel Hitch Mounting

Here is my delema. I just traded my 2003 F250 CC SBfor this wonderful 2008 F350 CC SB. I have a husky fifth wheel slider hitch that I need installed in the 2008. The dealer at the RV center told me he wasn't sure it would be a direct bolt on to the 2008 form the 2003. He then told me that husky did not currently have one available for the 2008 only the install kit for 99-04 and 05-07 SD trucks. To me it looks like it would swap right over. The frame looks the same, its the same dimensions across---37" frame rail to frame rail---
Does anybody know of a change in the frames from 2003 to 2005 or 2007 to the 2008. They ordered me a reese install kit, so we will see what happens. The are suppose to install the hitch july 5, 2007. I would love any info. I do plan on test fitting my current hitch brackets on the 2008 as soon as i pick it up friday.

So I think that the only reason I would need the 05-07 installation kit on my husky hitch " http://www.huskytow.com/PDF/A25.20_UBS.pdf " is because of the staggered shocks on the 05-08.

Same boat!

Please post if you have good luck with the 07 kit on the 08. I also discovered that Husky/Valley do not have the UBS for the 08 yet. It would be nice to know if the 05-07 kit bolts on without drilling.

Good luck and please report back.

I will let you know what I find out. This is what I have found on my own. The difference in the 05-07 frames from the 99-04 is this. In 2005 the frame was given thicker metal, but not shape, and the major difference in design was the staggered shocks, The sit closer to the bed support rails and are slightly higher above the frame than the 99-04 position. The stamping of the frame did not change. the The 2008 frame is the same frame as the 05-07. All dimmenesnions of the 99-04, 05-07, and 2008 are the same. I took measurements from my 2003, the 2008 I am picking up and a 2007 on the lot. All were Crew cab short beds. I even took digital pics to look at on the computer. Also I have every ford superduty truck brouchure from 1999-2008, So I referenced those for changes. So until the companies get there hands on a 2008 to verify; all listings will be for 05-07. The measurements on all models I checked are as followed. Frame with across-outside to outside- 37", Bed rails-mounts to frame-20 3/8", and bed rail mounting point-closest to front of truck- to indent in frame(look and you'll see what I mean)- 6 1/4". Hope this helps

I just purchased the same truck and have the same hitch. Did you center the hitch over the axle? If not, could you tell me what the measurement is from the front of the bed to the first rail. Thanks Jon

I bought a 08 f 250 and a new fifth wheel the same time. I took my truck to the rv store and dropped it off. They put the 16.5 reese fifth wheel hitch in mine. I had an older hitch in my other truck but decided it would be much easier to buy a new one and let someone else put it in.

We have installed a lot of B&W turnover balls and the companion fifth wheel for 08's. The difference between 07 and 08 is the exhaust issue. It has to be lowered to fit. There is not enough clearance above the pipe. B&W supplies a bracket to lower the exhaust, but you won't like how it looks. We have installed the MBRP filter back exhaust systems and that solves that issue. They are not that expensive despite the great looks because they only go from the filter back. The tips are vented simular to factory.

I never noticed on my truck if the exhaust was lowered or not. I'll have to go take a peak.

I got the hitch installed the week after I got the truck. We used the 05-07 kit, it works perfect. I can take take the measurements if you want, but it took the rv guy 4 hours to install it.

I used a Reese kit for a 05-07 on my 08 and the only problem I ran into was on the left side, a shock bracket rivet was under the bracket. Simple fix, just drilled a 5/8 inch hole where the rivet was behind the bracket.
