Chip, K&N and exhaust
I have a 1992 F150 302 4WD. I installed three inch exhaust and just ordered the new K&N air filter injection system (I was told the air injection system would fit and operate correctly). The salesman suggested a chip for this truck. He claimed that the K&N would boost the HP by up to 15 horses and the $225 chip would add another 15. I am looking for an opinion regardng 1) the application ... will everything fit? and 2) are the performance enhancements reasonable? and 3) where can I find original equipment performance data?
Thanks for your help.
Thanks for your help.

Chip, K&N and exhaust
Well, first lets use realistic figures. A K&N filter will maybe add 5 hp, but, 15 is a bit high. All the mods you want to make to your truck will help collectively. The exhaust is needed to free up the flow through the engine, the filter will help free the flow into the engine, and the chip will help the engine utilize the increase in flow. A Superchip for your truck will increase your engine output by 20hp and 30 ft/lb torque. The chip accomplishes this in several ways, advancing the timing for premium fuel, changing the air/fuel ratio, and basically makes the other mods a little more effective. Feel free to e-mail or call for more detailed explanations.
