I have a 1996 F250 Supercab shortbed 2wheel drive with a 460 and an E40D.I put a complete Banks exhaust system and trans command unit on the truck. I pull a 24' enclosed trailer (about 7000#) with it. The problem is not power, it's the trans. It wants to downshift prematurely (sometimes to 2nd @ 65mph), instead of using the torque of the motor. Under normal street driving it seems to want to stay in the lower gears too long under light acceleration. Do you have a chip that can reprogram the trans or change the shift points.

Our chips will affect the transmission shifting, but, will not work correctly installed in conjunction with a Banks System. The Banks system you describe is built to improve the transmission controls. The premature downshifting is caused by a lack of power causing you to apply more throttle to gain speed causing the vacuum to prevent the upshift of the transmission. The point at which your transmission upshifts is directly related to the amount of throttle pressure.
Thanks

Danny, Will your chip work if the Banks trans command is removed? What changes to the motor and the trans( shift points) would happen?
The upshift problem I am experiencing is only at low throttle and going from stop to about 35 or 40 mph. Instead of looking for the next gear it stay's in the lower one too long. All the Banks does is firm up the shift( up the line pressure).
Any thought's on a fix are appreciated. Thanks for the message.

The chips up the transmission fluid pressure also. We could change the shift pattern with a chip. Make the truck shift at a set rpm to the next gear. This may affect your towing ability by not allowing the engine to maintain proper rpm for maximum torque. And yes the chip will work if you remove the Banks Tranny kit.
Thanks Danny
