Hi,
Will a super chip help mileage for my '99 F-250 4x4 CC SD V-10? If so how much? Got all the HP I need! I need some better mileage as gas is going ot be up to $1.75 by the end of the summer!

Thanks,

Gains, if any, are 1-2 mpg. However, you must run premium with a Superchip so it costs the same to drive.

What's the answer for better mileage besides the "off position?" I just got the K&N airfilter and am looking at the Flowmaster muffler, anything else you can think of?

Thanks,

Craig: I know it's too late to hear it now, but the answer to better mileage in a F250 is called Powerstroke. Trucks like yours, with the V10, average about 8-10 mpg in city driving and 10-13 hwy driving. That is about the only downside to a V10. They have great power and torque, but, they are very thirsty. A Powerstroke in the same truck as yours will average 13-15 in city driving and 16-19 hwy. These are averages, I try to get feedback from all chip customers on this site and elsewhere. I have data from about 3000 F-250 owners. Most are reporting about the same numbers, so, they can't all be fibbing.
As for any other fuel saving mods, you might look into changing to a taller gear. I am not sure which gear you have in your truck, but, a taller gear normally helps the highway mileage a bit. You could experiment with this by going to a much taller tire size. This would effectively up the gear ratio on your truck. If it is not successful, you can at least use the tires until they are worn enough to go back to the original size.
Thanks
Danny

Danny,
Yes, so I've heard. And that is exactly what I want to keep.....my hearing, thus I bought gas. I knew the PSD had better mileage figures but, as my everyday truck, IMHO I thought the PSD was too LOUD. I'll do what I can to decrease the suction!

Thanks for the info,
Craig
