Chips and tranny

Hi, I have a 2000 psd, auto, w/373 gear. With the extra torque the chips will give, how will it effect the longevity and warranty of the transmission.

Saw man, Welcome to the site. Danny will probably be along soon to answer your question, which I might add is a darn good one as I was wondering the same thing.

Chips and tranny

SawMan: Check out the thread just below this one titled Warranty with the chip??? As for the tranny. The chip raises the transmission fluid pressure 20%. This creates firmer shifts and less slippage. Less slippage=less friction=less heat=longer tranny life.
Thanks
Danny

D, Thanks for the input on the auto. The PSD puts out 520 ft# of torque (I think), and the tranny accepts 550 ft# of torque (I think). I can see where the extra 20 percent pressure would be good, but with the extra 100 ft# of torque theres a lot of extra twist on the internal parts of the tranny. Thanks.

The specs on the 2000 PSD is 235hp and 500 ft/lb torque. The 2001 is 250hp and 515 ft/lb torque. The highest mileage with a chip that I know of is a gentleman in Oakdale, Louisiana, Steve Head, he owns Head Ford in Oakdale. He owns a plant nursery also. His 1999 F-350, crew cab, dually had 19 miles on it when I chipped it. He traded it in at 396,000 miles. This truck was used exclusively to pull a 38 foot triple axle flatbed loaded with plants and dirt. He claims no mechanicla breakdowns. Prety impressive record. He has since chipped every vehicle that he owns.
Thanks
Danny
