How many of you will buy the 09 F150 the first year out?
So how many will buy the new F150 for 09 or wait a year or two for the bugs to be worked out? My 06 has been perfect, no reason to trade it, but it never fails I ride by the dealer and then it hits me and I have an itch for something else. I'm not sure this time if I want to chance a new motor and trans design. Any opinions? Thank you.
well considering im in college and do not have a lot of money and my truck seems to have another 100,000 miles....no wait it can take more, i will probably save money and see how cheap i can get a reg cab with a 6.2L, on the fact of the first years bugs, for F-150s my dad has never had a problem with first year models, the SD's is another story, my mom did have airconditioning problems with her epy that was a first year model, but i wouldn't worry about it on the F-150
If they are completely different from 1997-2008 truck maybe . I don't like them mostly the bad hard seats and ugly lack of style interiors. But if they have a normal 2 door reg cab and manual trans, and improved MPG (I don't care about HP thats what 3/4 tons are for.
If work keeps up I'll get one. If not guess I'll be building another 97 down ride. At least they have nice interior.

I think that I will wait out the first year for obvious potential issues- new design 6.2 liter engine, new body, interior, suspension updates. I bought a '04 FX4 short box when it first came out in August of 2003 , as my lease had run out on the 2001 F-150 I previously had . That '04 was the biggest piece of junk I ever owned (including some winter beaters!) . You name it , the issues just kept coming. (poor throttle response, drivetrain vibration, poor seat quality, automatic 4X4 hubs, tires, engine sounded like a diesel, rusty right rear quarter, etc.) I traded that for an '05 Lariat which has been good for 2 yrs. I just now traded for an '07 Lariat to 'hold me over' a couple of years until the '09 trucks get some of the early bugs worked out. (And don't think there won't be any of some kind) That's just my two cents-
thanks

not the first year....i'll look at them in 2010....i have a 07 now and i love it so i'm in no rush...

I am real tempted to think about purchasing when they become available as my search for a older truck has not been too fruitful. I am going to have to keep my eye on these as it gets closer to production.
I always thought though that they would have to pry my cold dead fingers from the wheel of a 80-86 model year truck though... lol

If the hard seats are improved, and the tilt wheel has better adjustments: Yes
A telescopic steering wheel would be a major plus.
I agree a telescoping wheel would be great. I find that domestic manufacturs generaly put the wheel way too close for my comfort. I like the arms out driving style. The tele coupled up with the pedals, would really make these trucks adjustable and comfortable.
I would also like to see a option for a automatic hvac system, one like on my 92 Olds that automaticly cycles thru defrost, heat or A/C (including automaticaly selecting defrost vents, dash vents, or floor vents) depending on what is required.
It would also be nice to have a automatic wiper option as well.
Guess I would like those Crown Vic appointments in a truck, although I do realize that this would not be for everybody, thus I would like to see them optional.

My '88 F150 will celebrate its 21st birthday in 2009, and I think it'll last me a couple years beyond that. It's only got 177,000 miles. I may wait a year or two to let the bugs get worked out before I buy one to replace ol' Beauregard.
Mind you, that won't stop me from looking them over when they hit the dealer's lot... I get the fever pretty bad sometimes, but it's hardly ever bad enough that it empties the wallet.

For a first year I wouldn'y buy it. Would probably wait till the 2nd or 3rd year of production. I would like to look into one, but I'm gettin tired of car payments, and I want to see how long I can make my 06' last.
