I need a truck right now. My 01' F150 was flawless; may she RIP. I've been looking at 07's, but when the 09's hit the streets I don't want to be wishing I had waited a little longer. It will be a stretch for me to wait for them, so I'll probably buy a first year truck.

I think i will, cause i think i'm going to get a beater for the time beening (to save my pride and joy of a mint 82 f-150 flareside) and then save up to put a nice big down payment (at LEAST half), but they will have to offer the truck 4.6 with a 5 or 6sp manual, or the 4.4 diseal with a stick, then it will be something like a short box regualar cab, and 4wd if i can get a deal, and ac cruis tilt and some bucket seats (i like the current seats, and i even like them for the long trips).

If i can't get a stick i'll get an 06-08 f-250 with the 6.8 or 5.4 (depending on what i can get a deal on) with a stick and same options.

I will most likely purchase a new truck early next year, and it will be a base model V6/Manual transmission/2wd I need something for mileage that isn't a car, and can still haul lumber.

Well if I don't find what i am looking for used, then I probably will look seriously at a new base model, at least in the running gear, although I would like some electric / power accesorie options. While I would love to have a diesel half, I would probably guess that the diesels would be a bit expensive for me, as dealers are most likely going to charge a premium for the new diesel half.

Can't blame them for doing that in a free market, but my days of paying 2, 3, 4 or 5 k over list just to have the newest are over for now.

I'll try for a model end clearance, right now they are $10K off MSRP at the local dealer, I'm really trying to hold back here...

I'm not the type to buy a new anything. I would not buy any of the new models because I haven't liked the interior since the 2004 redesign. Unless the interior returns to a softer more conservative feel, I won't get one, even used. Right now 67-79 and 87-96 are what I like best. I would consider a 97-03 model truck if it was cheap enough.

Well waiting has worked in my favor and wiating too long has hurt as well.

My 98 was a great truck...never had a problem. My fathers 99 same trim..4x4 ect. was a pos. Who knows...the truck just felt cheaper.

My 05 was an alright truck. Still had throttle lag...vibes...ect. But hey, its a truck. I bought an expy for the room and ride but may look elsewhere for a new truck (ie. Toyota, Dodge)

Good luck with your new purchases.

I won't ever buy one. It looks like hammered s**t! The most recent model trucks all look like crap. The only trucks I would buy would be 1996 and older F150 unless its an L, 2006 and older F250 super duty, 2001 and older Dodge, 1999 and older Chevy. Those all look like a truck is supposed to. All the new stuff is hideous! Not to mention the fact that they are way too much money for what you actually get. The only newer stuff I like is maybe the Roush Nightmare, but I just don't like the newer stuff. They have too high of beds and front ends. They just have too big of a body and they cant be areodynamically any better. Their fuel economy sure isn't. I also hate the oversized wheels. Anything bigger than 17 or 18 is rediculous. It just means tires cost more. I don't see the point. Also, you can't see to back up and the new F150s regular extended cab whatever all have that short door so you have to lean forward to see to the side. Thats not anything I want to fool with. I'll just keep my 95. I'll save money and maybe have more toys.

Thumbs up 2009 F150

I will probably wait a few months simply because I don't think the diesel version will be available in 2009. I want to see it, drive it, and see what the price of diesel is at the time.

I have never had any problems with first year purchases. Had a 1997 F150 shorty with 4.6L that was the best truck I have ever owned. Kept it til 2005 with over 170,000 miles on it. Only replaced tires, front brake pads, one O2 sensor and oil and filters.

My current ride is a 2004 Screw lariat w/5.4L 3.73 limited slip, with 85,000 miles.

I just took delivery of an '08 screw 4x4 I ordered because I'm not one to risk a first year truck (well tranny that was taken from the expy and "reworked" for the truck) also I don't like the new look, maybe by the time I need a new truck it will have grown on me or they will have refreshed the look to something I like

Well, I am in a situation that I no longer need the capability of my 06 F250cc 6.0 diesel. This new 150 seems to be able to have the capability I need now and again as far as towing. So with diesel prices about a dollar a gallon more, and the new f150s ability to run on E85 as well as gasoline it makes it attractive.(besides I like the idea of running e85 and keeping our money here rather then sending it to the middle east) I like the new styling, looks more like a SuperDuty. The advertised towing features and the built in trailer braking system is a dream. I have it now and boy it really works great. (not the sway control but the built in braking and downshifting feature). The fact that the Crew Cab is the now going to be sized big enough to seat adults comfortably in the back seats is also a huge hit for me. I am a bit nervous about a first year truck but I think that the power train will be pretty much worked out, its been in the Expy for how long now? I know it will either be this truck or (dare I say it) the new Dodge. I will reserve judgement until they are both out and available to test drive and compare.

I love the new 09 look but I will wait until about this time next year, give them a chance to get any bugs worked out, however I am driving a early build 04 and have not had any problems.
