Changing oil/tranny fluid

Well, if Murphy doesn't show his ugly head this time next week a 97 F350 CC dually will be sitting in my driveway. I know I have a ton to learn but lets start here:

Is there enough room under the truck when parked on flat service to just lay under it and change oil/tranny fluid? Also, is oil filter easily accessible from underneathe truck? Remember this is my first diesel and I said lets just go with the big DADDY!

I could say without any doubt that on the 4x4 350s no problem at all getting underneath everything. Not too sure about the dually.

I can put a 5 gallon bucket under my oil pan to drain it. Factory sagging springs and all.

what about the oil filter location? Also, what is the stock fuel tank size for these trucks?

filter is in the tranny oil pan, no big deal, just make sure you gedt the correct one, thier are two, 1 for 2wd and the other for 4x4.

Fuel tanks are front, 72liters, rear 68 liters. these are canadian figures out of my manual.

Oil filter is right beside the pan and is easy to get to. When changing the oil poke a hole in fiter and let it drain at the same time the pan is draining. That way you don't get oil all down your arm. Also be sure to put some new oil in the new filter before installing it. This will prevent starting with no oil pressure.

I believe the tanks vary quite a bit from truck to truck. Mine has small tanks ~16 gal front 18 rear most of the dually's have a large rear tank and no spare.

The screwdriver hole in the Oil filter is the ONLY way to go with the oil change, it will save you alot of grief!! Be prepared for a huge mess when you do your tranny fluid change. I would suggest a floor pan that is pretty large unless you want it all over your driveway! They sell them at Wal-mart for about 10.00 and they are well worth it.

You wont have a mess of trans fluid everywhere if you have the Fumoto drain valve already installed in the pan. How lucky you'd be....
