2002 4.0 Mods?????

Is it just me or has the aftermarket forgotten about us Ranger owners?? I've looked for suspension updgrades for my 4X4 XLT SuperCab Stepside and have gotten nowhere. I can't find an engine mod for the 4.0 SOHC unless it's a chip that is for the F-150 and retro'd to work the V-6.

What gives? I see more stuff for Tacomas and they've sold a boat load more Rangers than Tacomas over the years...

I used to own a Jeep Grand Cherokee that I tricked out and even as the aftermarket was new for those vehicles.

Am I a "couple cans of a six pack" or has anyone else had this problem?

4.0 SOHC is built in germany and it is unusual for american truck engine. And belive me there is nothing to improove. Of cource U can use perfomance air intake, exaust and U can change ignition timing charts and fuel injection charts. It gives U about 5-7% gaine, not more. Engine speed limit may be changed too. But this is risk to damadge ore ruine engine. I U want more power start from tranny first. Use 5st tranny.

Bama chips has a programer for rangers and jusnes modified has bama anad other engine goodies like headers, catbacks, intakes, udp. Lift kits for our trucks aren't cheap, superlift has about the cheapest and it's 1,500.00$

Many Thanks

Thank you all.

I'll look into the Bama Chip.

Wouldn't it be nice is we could get some stout bumpers like an ARB (maybe even with a winch mount!) for a Ranger...

Best to you all.

If I may retort, bama is one of the bigest bangs for the buck on a ranger, jba and gibson makes headers and K&N, AIRAID, VOLANT, AEM all make intakes and there's countless catbacks available.

I'm not sure what type of suspension 'upgrades' you are after, but you should check this out, and try contacting camburg about it..
http://www.offroadrangers.com/forum/...ad.php?t=11636
Custom lower shock mounts to fit bilstien 7100's with reserviors, and limit straps. Installed from camburg should be around $600, but I think they will sell the parts (shocks included of course) for $500 and you will need to weld on the tabs for the limit strap. The kit should give you a little bit of extra travel up front (1-2").
Also check out warrior products here
http://www.warriorproducts.com/catalog/catalog.php
You can buy front swaybar quick disconnects, that are made for a 95-01 Explorer Front, but they work the same on the ranger. These two things together should make the front end pretty compliant.
For the rear end, look into bilstien 5100's or 5150's. You can replace the rear springs with deaver springs for a softer ride, and you can also install a longer shackle (chevy 1500 lowering shackle) that will lift the back and should help the suspension flex. With that increase height, you can remove (or buy shorter) rear lift blocks so you'll have less axle wrap.
For bumpers, you'll most likely have to go custom. Here is mine.

There are some ideas for bumpers here too;

Wow!

Brianjwilson,
The images of your truck are awesome. The front bumper is great. Did you fabricate it?

Thanks again to all of you. I can see there are mods for our trucks, but compared to my ZJ it seems you have to "work" at finding them.

Best,
