Question Buy 1 truck or 10 trucks debate-vote now

I have been on a 56 ford snowball all year. I was into 6pac roadrunners for 20 plus years and the prices went out of this world---so I went to my 1st love-a 56 ford truck--cheaper and beautiful and my 1st vehicle, and we all remember our firsts!!!haha!!!
I have tried to explain to the wife that more trucks to own is better than 1 truck with 25,000 dollars sunk into it.--You may feel different, but I would rather have more trucks--not junk, but roadworthy.
How do you feel? Is it better to own a few or as many as you can afford,or just 1 and make it a show winner?
I told her I would ask the FTE crowd and hear your views.
p.s.--I am thinking of buying a few more and need your support-haha!!! BILL

Mine will never be a show truck, but it is all I can afford. I can only drive one at a time anyway, so it works out.

in my yard I would prefer to see a 40 1 1/4 ton w/m-h conv., 42-47 pickup, 48 F1, 49 F6, 56 F100, 60 F250 4x4, 70 F100, 78 F150 4x4, 79 bronco, 73 IH 1210 4x4, 41-49 IH panel, and a '29 Ford panel all lined up in a row. If I had to sell one, I'd have several others to still enjoy.

I`m totally with you on this, my farm yard is over flowing....
Don`t forget parts trucks are great, I`ve got 6-53/6 and 4-69/72 F100`s at all times plus a few 57/60 F100`s.

You can never have too much STUFF.
That said, I would never build a show Truck/Car, you will go insane.
Make sure that you have different models that have dedicated (read the fine print) uses, justifying them is easier.

NOTE: This principle does not work for Girlfriends.

I have 4 pick ups in the back yard and 1 in the front. Just brought home a 72 Bronco yesterday. Don't know where I'm gonna park it yet. Got to make some room, still on the trailer. Wife says I can have what ever I want as long as I keep it out of HER front yard. I'm pulling the drive train out of the '85 but other wise all my trucks are my little treasures, ha ha.

If you have the space, and the money to buy them, why are you even asking this question?

Well said Dick, and since it doesn't work with wives/girlfriends/etc a man must satisfy his propensity for variation with a collection of projects.

So, yes, you need more trucks

I bought and sold lots in the last two years. I now almost have one complete, but have another 52 coe to build. I have one to pickup in NE, or may just relist it. I will continue to search for cheap rebuildable 51 & 52;s. I am an addict, but don't want intervention!

My signature pretty much states my opinion on the subject. You can never stop at one once you get the first. Sometimes they even follow you home. At last count I have had 15 Bonus Built Fords, mostly parts trucks. I have had every size except a F-8.

My wife is from a tight German farm family and they can't understand why anyone would buy a vehicle other than a new one. Every time I drag home another truck she starts nagging me about when I will be getting rid of it. After twenty years of marriage I just ignore her and take my time tearing the trucks aparts and selling the parts and enjoying it.

Once the smell of old oil and mouse urine gets into your blood it's hard to get rid of it.

I see how this works- draggin the rest of us into it with the misses!!! ha ha ha ha- I can hear it now "BUT Honey the guys on FTE said it was ok to buy another one"!!! Uh-HUH blame it on us!!!
I know EXACTLY where your coming from-
I have 3 pickups for the farm and its never enough I ALWAYS need at least one more!!! Right now ones hooked to the gooseneck with the water tank on it for spraying- so that ones out if I need it, ones outa commission for some reason- (dont know how that works- park it for the winter running fine and then now NOTHING???) and the other one is my daily driver but its my good one that I dont beat up- so now when I need to do something "nasty" I got NOTHING!!! The 56-F-500 is on rock picking duty (land scaping).
I suppose if I see something I like (pronounced CHEAP) I'll have another!!!
I vote GO FOR IT- once you get used to the couch its really not that bad of a place to sleep!!!!

Irrefutible logic. And funny. But I don't think I'd share it with my lovely wife. Her usually great sense of humor fades dramatically at the mention of other women.

I have the 56 F600-now set-up to be a grain/flatbed (14") or a vanbox . All I have to do is pull over a set of drums and disconnect the 6 u-bolts and the wire harness and then pull under the other and bolt her on. This mean't -to the wife! I only needed 1 truck.--Then 3 more trucks came along and 1 is complete-minus bed and the other is in pieces-work in progress, and the other m-h well driller isn't home yet.
Now---she is saying ''toooooo much truck stuff'' WHAT???? I can always use more parts. I quit chasing women and take care of the yard and this is the thanks I get??? I am sure a few more trucks are in order, but I need to hide them so she thinks I am done.HAHA!!!!! I will never own another show-only vehicle (although) I like to look at them, AND what is the harm of collecting trucks? I used to have a 78 ford supercab dually from Florida with 460 and she had 40,000 miles and a beaut!!! she still calls it the money pit!!! I can't have only one!!!!! oh-yea---happy b'day to me--50!!!!!

Randy,
Ah yes, that is oh so true isn't it?
I'm pretty confident in my relationship, I have a great woman who puts up with my screwball ways (and I'm pretty sure that she'll never leave me because if she did she'd have to take half of my stuff...........)

Bobby
