Ideal engine - 61 Econoline P/U

I am in need of finding a replacement engine (and possibly transmission) and need some advice -
Want to stick with 6 cylinders, with the price of gas; but want to have decent accceleration and ease of cruising on the freeway as well.
What should I look for in a donor vehicle / engine? Have a 3-speed on the tree tranny in it right now - along with a small rear-end set up; driveshaft is about 3 1/2 to 4 feet long, and somewhat on the skinny side.
Am more inclined to newer engines that may have electronic ignitions....

Please advise -

144-200 will be a direct bolt in. 170-200 both have 5/16 oil pump shaft, so you can install electronic ignition in them faiarly easily. and do it with ford factory parts for ease of repair later on.

if you look back thru the old posts you will see tons of posts on econo engine replacement.

Thanks much Jim. A newer 200 CI (1980 Ford) sounds like the best way to go -

make sure you get the block for the high mount starter. somewhere in the early 80's, ford had 200's with the low mount starter and the wrong bellhousing pattern.
