Peace Offering To The V-10 Guys
Alright,
I know I've thrown some grenades at you V-10 guys in the past.....Me being an oil-burner and all.....But the time has come to realize that we are all brothers-in-arms with our super-duty trucks......Power-plant be damned.....
So......Fueling up at the local Sams Mart on speedway boulevard (Lowes Motor Speedway) in Concord, NC......Who pulls up next to me in a nice-looking gold F250?.......A man driving a truck bearing the V-10 logo on the side. So.....Knowing that y'all need all the help you can get, I decided to recruit this young man into the ranks of FTE. I approached and handed him the information to get onto FTE and told him to make sure that he visited the heavy-duty section......(he'd never heard of FTE!).......I gave a brief synopsis of the site, and he promised to visit soonest---and perhaps we'll have a new V-10 driving member on FTE visiting and joining in the fights between the spark-plugs and the oil-burners....(haha).
Besides....You V-10 guys need the reinforcements!........
Enjoy
Steve

ouch!!!! i dont understand why you guys diss the v10 so muc...in the gasser category compared to the compitition the v10 dominates in my opinion...whats its competition, the 6.0 ..(chevy gasa) and 5.7....does the 6.0 PSD dominate against the cummins and duramax or the last time i checked the only category it wins in is the "I like to break all the time" ctegory...hahaha..its going to be one of those threads

I had a Dodge 1500 Crew Cab w/5.7 "Hemi" which I traded for the F-250 v10 Crew Cab. The Hemi was a wonderful truck for racing up and down the road LOUDLY. Frankly, it didn't tow worth a damn. Granted, it was a 1/2 pick up but the same engine is in the 3/4 and 1 ton (if you want it).
Truth be known I really liked the truck (SLT). Just couldn't stand the noise, mileage and white knuckle driving with a load.
My v10 gets better mileage (ok, not that much better) and when I'm towing I can't even tell I'm towing anything except when I look in the rear view mirror.
Still, if $50,000 comes falling out of the sky I'd really like to get a F-350 Lariat 6.4 diesel. I may live to regret that wish but damn that truck drives nice!
Nothing wrong with my truck....I just have a beer budget and a champagne appetite.

I have maybe posted in the FTE forums a few times and I come here day after day to look at what people and experst have to report in the world of Ford. I have now 3 generations of family that work in the Ford Truck Plant and I have but a few small words to say. I think it's safe to say that the company we all Love so much (FORD), would not put an engine out there that they did not think was right for the task. I think it's also safe to say that offering a variety of suitable engines makes ford such a good company. This consant bashing of Diesel and Gas at each other seems almost like picking and choosing between 2 of your own children. We seem to forget that the 5.4, 6.8, 6.4, 6.0, and 7.3 are all FORD ENGINES. And every single one of them can be found in the Super Duty line up. What should be happening is you diesel owners need to defend yourselves from the Cummins owners. Those guys are the ones you should be smack taliking to, just as the Gas engines should too. I often wonder why it seems IMO, that each different type of engine owner needs to explain themselves and feel a need to prove themselves to the other type of engine owner. Like I said earlier in this Post, I have a few generations of Family that have worked in the truck Plant, they all drive a whole multitude of Super Duties. I actually got them laughing at the whole Diesel Vs Gas battle. There are so many more things out there to nit pick over. We are all Super Duty owners, we should support, not knock each other. Everyone knows the flaws of the Diesel and everyone knows the flaws of the Gas engines. My internal question is did I make the right call by choosing Ford, not did I pick the right engine!
Thanks, Michael

I've been thinking of printing up sheets I can stick under people's windshield wipers to introduce them to FTE - but I procrastinate too much
The Gas Vs. Diesel thing has gone on and on and on in so many places, way before this site ever existed. And before that, it was diesel vs. gas vs. steam vs. electric. Oh, and add propane and NG to that as well. And maybe E85.
It's human nature to defend their choice. And if picked on a few times, will go overboard in making sure they get in the first shot next time.

Still....True story I posted. He had a nice-looking SD....I've got a nice-looking SD.....SDs gotta stick together.....So I invited him to FTE......
I keep forgetting to print out those FTE cards that you can stick on peoples' windshields to invite them to FTE......That woulda looked a lot nicer and more professional than a hastily-scratched web-site and web-site name on a greasy piece of paper oiled with old french fry juice!.....
