5w20 or 5w30 for over 100,000 miles

Hi everyone,
I have been using the ford 5w20 with the ford oil filters since the truck was new(F-250 CC 5.4) and am wondering with the higher miles( over 100,000) should I switch to a 5w30? I live in SE Texas and as you all know the summers are not on the cool side and we do a lot of towing on weekends

Thanks
Dave

The 5W20 will get you to another 100k no problem.

Until/unless it starts using oil and 5W30 makes it stop using oil, keep using the 5W20.

One of the main reasons these engines last with high mileage running 5w20, 5w30 oil, is the fact, this oil pumps quickly on cold start up, providing proper lubrication = engine parts with little to very minimal wear.

Thicker oil, cold, pumps slow or not at all right away. Engine parts get little to no oil lubrication until it's too late. Then add years of this, soon you have a loose engine, worn, using oil, burning oil, and a thicker oil or additive is necessary then.

I would use 5w20 it will provide the longest life. I have several trucks in my fleet that run bulk WPP 5w20 every 5k and they all have 200k and up on them. I would not hesitate to use it.
