Help out a friend...Im in need!

Last weekend I toasted my D44hd in my 79 F250 and I want a D60 replacement. It doesnt seem like many people here check out the Buy/sell thread so I thought I would post a topic. I have an aweful lot of parts beds cabs motors axles etc from 73-79 trucks and would like to trade or possibly cash/trade combo. I dont mind driving but if I cant find one in the next 2 weeks I will have to buy a set of $700 chromo axleshafts and u joints that will probably break next week.
Thanks

well Ive already sold the Detroit Locker and the 4.56 gear set. The hubs and axle shafts are junk and Ill be able to use some of the brake and steering components on the 60 so really all thats left is the housing and a few misc pieces. I do have a few complete D44hds laying around if you need something though

Buddha,
I can give you a quick run down of the difference between the series of trucks from 73-79. One word really sums it up...suspension. F100s and F150s had coil spring front suspension and F250 and F350s had leaf spring suspenion. The only exception is super cab and crew cab trucks which all had leaf springs front. All trucks, F100-F350, came standard with a Dana 44 front axle. The biggest difference is width lug pattern and brakes. The axle shafts gears and carrier are the same. With the F250 and 350 they had the D44HD which is what ford called an upgraded axle. The only thing upgraded is the brakes hubs and 8 lugs. The main components are the same as F150s just a little bit longer axle shafts. The stub shaft and ujoints are the same so its really not upgraded in the parts that usually break.

If I were you I would find a rusted out 78 or 79 super cab 4x4 truck and swap your body over. I say 78 or 79 because of the better power steering system and disk brakes. Your 2wd truck can be converted but its extremely expensive and time consuming. Alot has to be cut and fabricated for it to work. I also believe that the engineers at Ford are better at figuring suspension geometry than I am so I let them do it. With a few friends to help It can realistically be swapped over in 3 or 4 days depending on how good your help is and that you have the correct tools for the job. Dont go taking this thing appart in your driveway with a walmart socket set and expect it to go quick.

Anything else I can help you with let me know. Where in SC are you located?
