Buried car update / new video
for those that have been following the thread of the buried 57 Belvedere in Tulsa , here is a recent video that my Dad sent me.
the video pretty much tells the story.

something tells me they are going to do something drastic to make it look "presentable" when the oficial time comes to unveil it. They should just show it in all its rusted glory

That car is TOAST!
The ONLY way that car could have been preserved would have been to put it into a sealed container and pull a vacuum on the container and remove ALL the air (and water vapor) and keep a vacuum pump running on it to keep it evacuated.
What they did was nearly the same as submerging it in salt water!
A fitting end for a 57 Plymouth!

That's what happens when you over hype "burried treasure". (Can you say Al Capone's vault...") Me thinks they should have drilled a peep hole into the vault months ago when no one would have paid it much mind and sent a camera in to take a look before deciding to sell high $$$ tickets (likely to pay Coddington) and promoing it so heavily. After finding it underwater, they could have just quietly made it a local human interest event and not looked so foolish for it. Now it looks like they are throwing a major birthday party after exhuming the body of the guest of honor who died 50 years ago...

There is "some" hope that the cosmoline worked, and that the limited oxygen helped, but we'll all know today. I saw the test lift and it didn't buckle in two, it can't be real bad.

I've read through some of the posts on the HAMB, wow, there are some really pissed off people in Tulsa. It sounds like its turning out to be quite a fiasco. Thats a shame. I think good or bad, rusty, or not, they should open that baby up with full disclosure no matter what condition it is in.
If they try and pull a fast one it will bite them in the rear! Its a shame that Coddington is going to get a chance to touch the car. He may have good intentions but, as my grandma always told me "the road to hell is paved with good intentions".........
I guess we'll find out later today

Boyd will have his crew jump on it, b***h at each other, slather it with 10 gallons of bondo, hose a paint job on and stand around and pat each other on the back at what a great job they did. Also, don't forget they'll start running out of time in the last day and will have to really put the petal to the metal to get 'er done!
What they really need, since they layered the surrounding fence with tarps, is one of those TV magicians that can make airplanes disappear go over and do their magic so when the tarps are dropped there's shiny, like new car sitting there.
Either way, it's going to be a interesting saga.
