So how's everyone's summer going?

Been pretty quiet around here, thought I might try to stir up a bit of conversation... Been pretty busy myself trying to keep up with summer classes, as well as with all the work to try to keep up the farm maintenance my dad has let go for the 10 years I have been away...

I've been trying to keep on top of things, and doing okay so far, I guess. Always something around here to do. I've also been keeping my eye out for a new job in town, since my last one decided to head elsewhere. I've got a couple of good leads, I think, and hoping to land one of them soon, possibly this week. Have'nt taken a vacation in quite a few years, so may go for a trip somewhere later in the year. Got a couple ideas there, but nothing carved in stone.

I'm pretty much going stir crazy. I had a cyst removed from my "manhood" area 3 weeks ago, and its taking forever to heal. I'm back to work and all, but I cant do any heavy lifting or straining for another 3 weeks. So my summer project list is backing up horribly. I've come to the conclusion that I need to start ranking them in order of importance since it seem many may not get done. Top of the list...my poor neglected truck and shop. Good part of being lamed up is I'm finding great deals on the web for parts. Bad side is I spent way more than I brought in being off work for almost 2 weeks. So if the infected incision doesnt kill me, the wife will when she sees the credit card bill.

How often are you going to Newton? Going to have to try and get over there one of these nights...

Been to the last 2 races they had on friday nights I think the next one is in July but not sure if I will make that one or not but you can go to Iowaspeedway.com look under scheduals and then drag racing and it shows when they have them. Might make a good idea for a gtg

According to the site, I thought it said they run every weekend, Friday night. Also states that the cars need to be licensed as well, so is it on'y street classes they are running?

Well they have been letting some drag cars run too, basically if your under 7.59 you need a cage helmet and fire suit, and nothing faster than 6.40 allowed.

I don't think I will have to worry about those times... be lucky if I could make 10 with what I have right now... Sounds like general NHRA rules, IhRA and the like.

I've been helping my grandpa clean up his property. Mainly removing the reminents of dead chevys in and behind the garage, my dads 75 custom delux and my uncles 75 scottsdale have been back there for at least 15 years. My uncles 74 nova and 79 buick regal t-type are both sitting out there rotting away too. There were random doors, hoods, and fenders laying around, it was a freaking mess.

I've made a quite a bit of spare cash so far taking scrap metal back, my 86 has rolled across the scale about 10 times with 1400 pounds or more in the back.

We've disassembled and scrapped a pile of six 305s, two 350s, a 307, and eleven turbo 350 trannies. On top of that he decided to keep three 4 bolt main 350s and 3 turbo 400s, they might run again someday, yeah right.

So far I've made it through "the pile" behind the garage, I also made very short work of my dads 75 3/4 ton, it was gone in 2 days. I cut the hood of with a sawsall. I ripped the fenders, rad support, doors, and roof off with a chain hooked to the back of my 86.

I've had a blast tearing the trucks apart. The radiator support on my dads 75 wouldnt let go. I hooked the chain to my 86 and mashed the gas, the chain got tight and I bounced the back end off the ground like I hit a brick wall. I Threw her in reverse mashed the gas and slamed the back bumper into the rad support, threw her in drive mashed the gas and tore the thing straight off.

Just a few pictures of what I've been up to...

Heading back to work in town...

Well, my vacation plans might be on hold now, because I got hired to work 3rd shift in a metal fab shop, starting this Sunday night. It was time for me to get back to working in town, I guess. Not much to do for awhile now, and since they offered me a night shift, it was too good to pass up. Plus I'll have my days free, and I don't really need that much sleep, for when things do ramp up at home.

Hi everyone. I will be heading out to Michigan on the 3rd. I am working a 10 hour shift tuesday and then making the 12 hour trip right after work. It will be worth it. I am going to the in-laws in Detroit first (father-in-law works for Ford). Going to check out the Henry Ford museum on the first day. Then we will be off to Northern Michigan to the wifes grandparents. Another 5 hours! It is pretty country up there. I hope I get a chance to do a little fishing (Brown Trout). Then I will be heading home on the 8th.

My work hours changed, so I've been splitting my newfound free time between helping my brother haul scrap and working on a '79 Bronco I got from him after he bought it ($80) for scrap.
