my husbands 92 ford rangers starter went out (had a short in it,the truck worked fine before this) we replaced it (4 times ) all grind, the truck starts and runs its the starter just won't disengage, flywheel is 2 maybe 3 years old and appears fine,we just changed the cylinoid(we also tried a starter from some where else) so now we are thinking maybe a short somewhere maybe the ignition switch

it never has but we put one on still the same we also just changed the ignition switch and of course nothing we give up and taking it somewhere, thanks anyway
Perhaps check for voltage at the starter after the engine starts?
voltage at the starter would indicate that it is still trying, and rule out the starter as an issue....then all you need to do it track back the voltage.
