that is a factory block, looks like factory springs also, seeing the whole truck would help.

All these trucks come from the fatory with the axle mounted under the leaf springs, even the 2wd. That does look like the factory blocks, and the factory brake line. You may have a "high boy" model.

Nice black spray paint job you got there also.

It's an F150. Not an F250

Highboys are F250's

My Parts & Illustration book doesn't show any blocks for the F150.

In fact, it only shows Fron Coil springs for F100-F150's 4x4's reg.

It does show a Leaf spring was used for 77 F150 Super cabs and F250's

Looks like a factory Ford block, but does not mean that it came from that truck. I don't know too many aftermarket block that used the ears to allow the u-bolts to feed through, so that would indicate a factory style block. Heak I probably have 5 or 6 sets in the garage, and more at the shop, in both 2.5" wide, and 3" wide.

Did the Half ton trucks from that year come with a block originally? that would be a start.
What is it you are trying to accomplish dirtjumper01? Are you installing another lift kit?

I had a early 78 f150 4x4 new and it came with that same setup. It sat 2 1/2 " higher in the rear. When i lifted it i put 4" lift coils in front and 2" blocks in the rear to level it out.33" tires would clear(stock) except on a deep dip. Same color too.

thx for all your help.

And yes, we want to put a lift kit on the truck. Lets say I buy a 6" lift... I don't know if the lift company for ex: skyjacker, is going from the differential, or the block that is has right now, IF that is stock. I am getting really mixed oppinions on whether this is stock or not.

Consider only what tire you are trying to install. You should not use your existing kit as a baseline. All manufacturers offer spring only options for pennies more, and should be the way to go. It does not matter at that point what you started out with, or what the truck came with. The end result will be whether or not you can clear a desired tire diameter.
I believe if you buy a 6" spring only kit, you should be able to clear 36" rubber, and you don't have to loose any sleep over what you already have.

Anyway, even if you don't buy a spring only kit, they will provide you with everything you need to make the rear match the front. If they give you another block, then see if you can remove the block that is in there already, and check ou the heigth, if it is not high enough, then a slightly larger block or add-a leaf may be in order, but that would be very unlikely. My point is this: you will have all of the parts necessary to lift the vehicle they way the lift manufacturer intended, regardless of what is in your truck now.

a 78 is Not a 77.

The SC can be different than Reg cabs.

I still believe this has been done by some other than the Ford factory.

Well, Im deciding to go for a 6" lift. Im having a hard time finding a good lift kit that is decently priced. $550, give or take

Can anybody show me to some. I need a kit that includes everything I need to make this work.

Coils
Blocks (I can't afford leafs right now)
Pitman Arm
Extended brake lines
Shocks
and whatever else I need

Also, what exactly is Castor Correction, and do I need it.

Suspension connection has a lift with all that, but its a 4" lift

My 75 F100 has the factory blocks in the rear......and my FSM indicates that it's supposed to be there, but not in the picture.....

In the text (Section 14-31-1) it says under "F-100 4 wheel drive, Bronco", toward the end of the paragraph, "A spacer is located between the spring and the axle to obtain a level ride position".

I've personally never seen a stock height 4 wheel drive dentside that didn't have the factory block in the rear.
