Bumper questions

Hey guys

On my 94 ClubWagon the bumpers need to be replaced the front chrome is kinda hazy and the rer has dings in it. What options do i have for bumper replacements. i know their are the stock ones but i swear ive seen non stock bumpers on vans will the F150 bumpers bolt up.

You would have to do some heavy modifications to an f150 bumper to fit a van. My best suggestion would be to look at some of the conversion van companies and see what they are using for bumpers.

Haven't you noticed that the E-Series is wider than the F-Series? No F-Series bumper is going to fit w/o expensive customizing.

I think there are 2 basically different front bumpers for '92 & up Econoline available in both chrome or painted. Not certain what year they changed or if they interchange. In addition to stock replacements there are after market reproductions as well.

You have more options replacing the rear bumpers since several step type bumpers have been made in addition to compact stock designs.

My front rusted through & I was very lucky to find a nice U-Pull junkyard bumper to replace it. I found that the rusty bolts were retained in plastic blocks & that the heads twisted free under heavy pressure, making removal a difficult chore requiring most of the 8 bolts to be cut off in very tight quarters. If rust is an issue, begin days in advance by soaking in penetrating oil.

IMO considering the cost & effort involved, I could live a long time with "kinda hazy". I'd inquired some time ago about the after market front bumpers & was quoted about $150, ask at a body shop if your FORD parts guy balks.

There are offroad and winch style bumpers available. A guy on Ebay custom makes bumpers for Bronco's, he might also be willing to do vans if a few people had the demand.

I just want a pair of off road bumpers for an '86 E350, but I think I will have to get them custom made.
