It has a Ford stamped tag rivited to the inner fender with the tune-up info on it for a 33O industrial motor. I've seen another 78 F350 in the Truck Traders with the same motor.
Whats the DSO on your vin plate the 330 FT could have been factory in your truck. The only company who could order them like that was U haul. The F-350 U-haul trucks were all NP435 with large input shaft and a 330 FT engine.

F350 U-Haul trucks of this vintage have dual rear wheels with a box on the back. Ford built these trucks special for U-haul, and all have the 330 FT engine.

I worked for Coberly Ford in downtown LA, and they had the contract to repair U-Haul trucks for all of SoCal. Being a back parts counterman, I soon learned that 1970's U-haul trucks had all sorts of differences from the standard F350's.
Last FE was in 1976, but the FT 330/361/391's lived on for several more years till replaced by the 370's around 1980.

I junked a 78 F600 that also had a 330 in it. It wasn't a transplant. I think the FT motors were also a special order thing with the F350's, not including the U-Hauls.
Yes it is an old U-Haul truck. I never heard about the FT line of motors before. I was going to replace the 330 with a 460 anyway. I only paid $300 for the old truck, just to save it from the car crusher.

without a fleet order of 25 or more trucks you couldn't get the FT. Uhaul also did more oddball stuff to there trucks to make them as cheap as possible. Most trucks came with manual steering, non flip bench seat,4 seed manual,no dome light, no radio, no ashtray,no lighter and some came with no heater like the 77 i parted out.
