93 engine/trans needed

I am looking for a salvaged V6 pushrod motor and trans combo for a 93 explorer. The car is in really good shape, but the engine is tired after 300K miles and the 3rd replacment trans just puked last night. The cost of the rebuilt trans makes me think it would be a better move to install a used, low mile package from a wreck......Anyone have one laying around? Or know where to look? Reasonable?...........aMP

I have always just got out the yellow pages and called the wrecking yards to see what they have in thier yard. I did that with my son's 2000 ZX2 for a tranny, and my wife's 1986 Buick Century Station Wagon years ago.

I also use a used car lot garage that does commercial work only for the labor. If they want to keep their mechanics busy, some shops take in outside work. They deny it, but if you know anyone in the business they can refer you and the shop will usually take your car/truck in for work. Normal shop charges are double what I pay at the used car service center near me. I'd start with Enterprise, they don't have garages or mechanics. See who they use...and where they get their parts.
