Easy "MEMONIC" to remember seven way connections

Think of yourself as being in a bad relationship, and it goes like this:

The Driver and his trailer are "RUNNING To GROUND" and the passenger has "POWER To BRAKE you".

This gives us (from top to bottom):

DRIVER SIDE -

RUNNING
To
GROUND

RUNNING lights

left Turn and brake light

GROUND

the passenger side has:

POWER
To
BRAKE

12 volt POWER

right Turn and brake light

BRAKE controller signal

The center is the reverse lights, always. Which I take to mean that in the middle of it there is always a reversal....

But I digress.

It doesn't matter if you are looking at the truck, or the trailer this way - the drivers side is always the drivers side, and the curb or passenger side is always the passenger side. So whichever you are looking at, plug or socket, if the keyway is on TOP as you look at it - THAT'S THE PINOUT!

That is absolutely one of the best bits of info I think I've gleaned from you Greywolf. You don't know how many hours people have spent looking for diagrams. (or maybe you do....lol)

Awesome post yet again. Thanks!

Dan

Correct spelling is "mnemonic"

Helpful for when I rewire my trailer this weekend.

NOPE! Two "n's" do not work:

M ade
E ntirely for the
M eans
O f
N ulling
I ncorrect
C harts and diagrams as they pertain to R.V. trailer wiring

Thanks Greywolf, this came in handy last night in my driveway. I had to forget everything else I read and just follow this to wire the truck. I'm down to just tapping into the turn signal wires and running lights up under the dash and running a ground wire to the battery.

Best Part is Ford prints this on the cover of the 7way. Don't need to remember squat and still have the beer.

I'm doing my part to reduce our dependency on foreign oil and clean up the environment; my truck runs on 100% biodiesel made from soybean oil grown by U.S. farmers. What are you doing?

Now go drink a beer, and schedule a service call in the morning!

As I've come to expect; excellent info wolfie and fabulous follow-ups to spelling corrections.

I've come to realize that spelling for thread conversations and actual English have absolutely nothing in common, so if the word sounds like it is spelled and the information is easy to understand, I don't care if it won't get through a spell-checker.
