Last november I picked up my 2007 Lariat f150. I`ve been washing the truck every week since I owned it. I`ve waxed it, detailed the chrome, tires ect. Now comes the engine. How often do you guys do a engine shampoo. And do you do it youre self, or take it to a shop. If you do it your self, what products do you use.
Coil on Plug, the spark plugs have coils on top of them. Speaking from experince, water can get down into the boot and cause you headaches. Mine cost me $455 worth for 8 COPs and plugs.
That's way I expiremented with windex and brushes.
Hope nobody has to drive the Cops equipped engines in the rain.

It's not that big of an issue unless your pouring gallons of water all over the engine. Splash isn't going to be enough to get into the COP boots and cause problems. It's really no more of an issue than hosing down a distibutor with poor seals.
Washing the engine down can blow a COP. I speak from experience on this one. Put some plastic over the COPs and valve covers when washing off the engine.
If water gets down in the valve covers where the COPs are it may take days or even weeks before a problem shows up. Basically, once the water is heated enough to evaporate it will get up into the COP. Then, when the conditions are right the water will condense in the coil and its time to say good-bye to a COP.
