rear end fluid quantity

So, Its late again, and that must mean I left my brain in the truck. Anyway, i got her all back together but now I just got to fill er up with oil. I bought lucas 80/90 gear oil. How much does it hold though? Do we fill them through the wheel speed sensor? Tomorrow After work I'll get a few miles on her and see how I like the locker. catch up with you all later. Thanks.

Boy, you were working late. 6.9 pints. It will fill through the fill hole on the side, not the speed sensor on top. Be carefull and don't overfill it. Why did you chose this oil instead of the book recommended SAE 75-140 Synthetic?

haha, for that reason. . . i didn't know what the recommended oil was. looks like I'm heading back to auto zone to get some. The tag on my rear end I thought said 40 Synth, maybe it had a 1 infront of it. Thats a plug on the drivers side right? Thanks.

I dumped mine in throught the VSS hole on top. Too easy and serves another purpose. I cleaned the sensor, it's a magnet and will have "stuff" on it. And it makes it super obvious when it starts to come out the side fill hole. Full, stop putting fluid in. Also, I came in just barely over 3 qts with a stock cover. Not 3 and 1/2 like most.
