Just now seeing the photos and it appears they are still using the existing frame and possibly the interior. Are they doing just a sheetmetal/ drive line upgrade or a complete new vehicle from a clean sheet of paper?
Not sure, so don't quote me on this. By what I've read and can tell, the majority of the truck will be the same. Only changes are the motor, trans., interior, front clip and maybe a little sheetmetal changes to the hood and front fenders. Think of it as similar changes to what they did with the Explorer her back about a year ago, where they changed some aspects but majority was the same. Kind of refreshing the look, while providing a little more uph when you hit the throttle.

No my friend you are the idiot...You can easily see that the new front end of is very similiar to the front end of the new Expeditions.
Scratch that I am the idiot for not reading your post correctly. I do apologize Wr3ckin_Cr3w. You are right you can easily tell what the front end is going to look like.

I think it would be wise for Ford to stick with current f-150 and just do some upgrades to the motor, tranny, interior, and front fascia. It will save them alot of money and they will have a pretty reliable platform to work with. Kind of reminds me of the changes throughout the '80-'96 F-series trucks. If they keep the Triton v-8s as options, then most people would not have to worry too much about the first year models.
The new 900 GM line of trucks are pretty similar in looks if you ask me. Some engine adjustments but the same old 4-speed tranny. Interior upgrades but NOTHING mind boggling. I think Ford will do the same with the F-150. MINOR changes, nothing more. Human beings do not like changes especially radical ones.
I disagree, the next gen F-150 will be mostly new, besides frame. Chevy and Toyota are nipping at the heals of the F-150. Ford knows this and will make some def. upgrades all over in order to keep sales. I also think that Ford will iron out their disputes with International and build a diesel. And if international doesnt maybe Ford will, at least i hope someone does anyway. I want a diesel so bad i can taste it!! LOL
Stop teasing...they know not what they think they know

After spending a lot of time looking at the heavily camouflaged pictures available of the '09's so far, I would say that this is going to be more of an update/refresh. Like what ford Just did with the 2008 SuperDutys. I don't see Ford making any MAJOR changes to the Structure of the cab/box/frame etc.
Things things that look/sound like they are changing so far:
- Front Clip. Ford seems to love to do this the most. Think 87-91 to 92-96. Since the introduction the Superdutys in 1999, the front clip is the only sheet metal really that has changed.
- Power train. The engine & transmissions available in '09 will probably be much different than what is available now.
- Interior. Another Ford Favorite. If the front clip is changing quite a bit, you can count on the interior changing too.
Most likely, there will be other minor changes (brakes, optional components, etc). But I don't think that the '09s will as different from the previous generation of trucks as the '04s were.
Can't wait to order a 2009 F-150 XLT Supercrew, 6.5ft box, 4.4L V8 Diesel, 6spd Auto(Manual would be awesome), 4x4!
Now I just want more revealing Spy photos to analyze/drool over!

This may be the case but look at the 2008 Superduty as an example. Much of the sheet metal is the same shape, but just aboput everything underneath it is different. New suspensions in the rear, new interior, new quiet steel, etc, etc. If anything, this is the way they should upgrade products. Keep the good and what works (like solide front axle on superduty 4x4, frame strength, overall shape, transmissions) and ditch the bad for new (longer leaf springs for better ride without hurting towing or hauling, new engine, interior, quite steel, front clip). No matter what, I think Ford is going to keep the competiton on their heals. Look at the tailgate step on the superduty. I bet it is an option on the F150...something the others who just went through a remodel didn't even consider. Trailer tow mirror? never a thought till they were on the superduty.
What was with the picture of the supercab with the 5.5-ft bed. Do they offer that now????
They've offered the SCab with a 5.5' bed since I think '05. My neighbors father has one, but it's not an '06 or '07 (has the rectangle fogs not the small circle fogs). First time I saw it and even to this day it looks a little weird. But yes it is offerred.
