Hey Russ and gang;
Keep in mind that it might be best for al concerned to keep it small and informal for h first ever reunion.
I wonder if it would be best to try to find an informal, small, 1/8 miler as mentioned in an earlier post. I believe it was in Iowa.
I et don't really care where it is but thinking along the lines of keeping it as inexpensive as possible and being able to have everyone do as much racing as they want to and then gather around a fire and shoot the bull until the crows come home.
If we have it at a big raceway, the insurance may be expensive and they will make everyone leave as soon as the "official" racing is completed.
There will also be a more expensive gate fee for people to get in etc.
I hope to make a point to keep it simple and perhaps less work for those who will have the responsibility of making this whole thing happen.
Make no mistake, Scoot and I are in this for the long haul and will do all we can to help to make it happen and show up wherever it lands. For what it is worth, I am going to be taking my trailer all the way to Wyo. to load Brian's truck and then haul it to the meet then reverse it back home. You might say we ARE COMMITTED.
I just don't want to find out we are at the mercy of big raceways with lots of legal limits and set hours for having a good time and charging us a bunch to meet their schedules and peramiters.
Just some thoughts I wanted to get out there for all of you to consider and get your ideas accordingly.
Thanks to Russ and Blue Oval and others for keeping this on the front burner.
I do believe this can be a great oportunity for us all to get together and meet, run some heats and have some "Big Oranges" along with the STORIES.
bump.. we'll start on the graphics this weekend to broke to have any fun LOL
Nice Robert. Thanks for bumping this back up. Wish it was it was a sticky at the top. Maybe it can't unless it's FTE sponsered?? Art??? I promise we won't go political like the last time. J/K....
But good deal Robert on the graphics!! I have a pic to send you and a idea. You may or may not know who this was. But thought it might be workable into the design.
Unc I agree on the keep it simple idea. I'm all for that and think we'll all have a much better time.
Russ??? Where are ya hiding brother?? I have you on my AOL buddy list ya know!!!

Smaller distance/fee's/rules/BS... yeah sounds good from here. Cant gurantee my being able to make it as preparations for buying a home should be my 1rst goal on the list as of late... but hey I've been irresponsible for this many years and it's worked LOL
Going to look at that 58 short box in the morning and will get some updates on if that will be the ticket or not. Always wanted one of them trucks, just NASTY!!!! looking aint they
Shoot me the pict /idea Glenn I want to touch bases with you and Russ on the initial concept layout. I'll rough it up till we like it then start the redrawing of things so I can illustrate it up all IN YOUR FACE!! like you know
Hey good luck with the 58. A very good year. First year of the FE...and me. LOL. Should make for a nasty ride!!! I'll send you some info and see if you can work it into things. Thanks for your time and effort and sure hope you can make the show. But understand about going for the American dream. It's a buyers market here. Things are still a few years off tho so see how things go.

Unclefudd,
Here it is. This was my post on the Iowa 1/8th. I have mud drags there on 8/12, I would be happy to talk to them if you all would like. I still think it woulds be nice to have a concept flyer to show them. Just to make look all official.
You mentioned a camp fire, they do have a large open camping area that they may let us do that. If not I have a bon fire pit is my yard, but I can only hold 40-50 people.

I think the E/W thing sounds like a great time!! I have something for you to check out. I live in SW Iowa about as central US as you can get. Now the track we have here is 1/8, but they are talking about making it 1/4. Maybe by the time you can get everyone rounded up it will be a 1/4. This is a great track, every friday they race "run whacha brung". The cool thing about this place is they also have a 200' mud pit for mud drags!! While you cant run in the mud then on the track, you can play on the track get dialed in and the the guys/gals who like playing in the mud can tear it up. Maybe over a weekend we could Friday-Saturday drags on asphalt and Sunday mud drags!! And they have camping right there.
If you guys are interested I can talk to the track manager (Roadkill).
This track is owned by a dealership, Ford, Dodge & chevy. Maybe they can help out. I know a manager there as well.
Maybe if we could get a concept flyer or something to show. It may help to show we are serious. As well as what was in mind.
Been a while since I've had time to check in here.
This deal sounds very cool. Really needs to be full quarter mile at a nice track.
I'm in with a car...and with some scratch too...from the business. That should help push it ahead a bit.
Somebody call me....
We should coordinate with the Net54 FE forum to get enough FE powered rides to get attention. I have some media contacts that might help us out from the promotional side.
OMG!! he's alive LOL... Thats great because we (po mofo's) need some good (cheap ideas) for a JY build FE..
man I better get off my ass here and get to these graphics. Glenn did you ever email me the stuff you wanted to mix in ?
Why did I just now come across this thread?????? I can't believe it! Oh yeah, I'll be in the mud - that's where trucks belong. Any new specifics from the guys heading this up? I'll be coming from Springfield MO, so not too far at all. Josh
Well Its been sometime since I checked in here.....Glad to see Barry's coming aboard too!!
I have to agree with Barry on the 1/4 mile track.....But thats just me... I live close to alot of 1/8 mile tracks..and do know that a good set up 1/8 th mile car will rip your lips off and put them in the back window!! LOL..
But I have just kind of put this on the back burner for awhile do to work...and working on the house... and with another one of are club members being under the weather for the next few month's....it hasnt been a top priority....
But some guys are ready to race....and others are working on there rides with limited funds....and some are still collecting parts...lol... I guess if I have too? worse comes to worse....I'll slap a ford sticker on a Mini bike....and Carl, and I can have a run off !! LOL

Hey guys, don't feel to bad. I have had more expenses lately than you can imagine. First off, my little sister died last month so I have been making her house payment and car payment until we can get the estate probated. I had to have a new roof due to a hailstorm, new gutters, and new electric panel. Plus just every day expenses. So my build money is rapidly decreasing. Things will get better. BTW, does anyone on here know of anyone that might be interested in my sister's 1979 Trans Am? Great little car, but it's taking up room in my garage.
