(Mechanical) Pre Press Artist to be exact, we make the (fu fu fingers) Designer's "graphic"(for lack of a better word, 80% of the time-sure Glenn knows where I'm coming from) print on said press/substrate. But over the years I have honed the skills/tools well enough to suprise a few folks

From what I can find online, may be able to photgraph locally. Pretty much planning to illustrate the whole thing so there is no copywright, image use etc... issues. And it just looks that much better IMO. I'll try to toss together a real rough draft of the layout concept this weekend and email it to you, & Glenn-whoever is interested ..your welcome to forward it on for some feedback.

Off the top of my head for the banner (print/web use) centered a sweet SCJ with with long breather, le mans covers, viewed from hood latch percpective. Emerging left and right at a diagonal force perspective a truck grill/quarter panel defining the beginning-ending years of the FE..across the back of it all in a arch various (6-7) FE powered models defining the card holders of the days (galaxie, stang, etc..) kinda like a vote on this as it cant to get cluster F'd and would hate to leave out a major player of my own ignorance lol.. all Over showered by a custom logo for this hopefully groundbreaking annual event.

OK enough day dreaming LOL.. dinner time..

east v west

Highboy, Russ, Scoot, Strokster. All you guys and me and so many others have met in a way on the forum or at tracks or the computer etc.
There seems to me to be a genuine interest in many of you to actually make something like the east v west thing happen for a multitude of reasons.
Most importantly seems to be the forging of friendships and getting to meet one another in the flesh ( along with comparing peepees , your works of art).
I have helped to plan a few things such as this in my lifetime and it is not easy but then anything worth doing normally is hard. But I truly believe it will be worth every minute and whatever headaches it will take to make it come about.
I would think for you younger guys even more so than for us old farts. THAT is why I am willing to help to make it happen, cause it WILL be worth it and the friendships, memories, etc you take away from it will be with you forever.

An example if I may and then I will shut up about this whole thing and let you all get back to FE Q&A.
In 1980 I was fortunate enough to have five bikes that I had built to some degree entered in the first ever " Artistry In Iron" show held in the entire lower level of the L.A. Colleseum. The bike HAD to be Harley powered and it containes everything fro reat bikes to solid gold sportsters. Willy G did this as soon as he bought out the bowling pin Harleys. From a marketing stand point, it was truly, brilliant.
But my point is I was there and involved first hand. They made 500 belt buckles, special for this event with the logo for "artistry in iron", then broke the mould. Everyone who had an entry got a buckle. ( Immediately after the show they were selling for over $300.
I have mine in my safe. I get it out once in a while and look at it or show it to special friends and it always brings out a story or two having to do with the show and being there and doing that.
You can't take it away from me and there isn't enough money in the world to buy my hunk of junk buckle or a single story or memory. And I lived the stories that go with it.If you guys and your lovely ladies who support you can build the masterpieces the way you do out of ancient cast iron and sheet metal, making this happen is a slam dunk if you want it too. And I can tell you already just from the comments and interrest so far that a lot of people want it to and will help to do so.
It is a hell of a great idea and you guys are worth it, so geter done. Every one of you will meet at least one new person and take away at least one new friendship along with common interests. Something will happen that will create at least one memory and the specific story that you will live and relive forever and of course stories like that always get better with each telling don't they!!
Now I personally do not lie or stretch the truth even a little bit and that includes bike or truck building stories. So my stories may be a little bland but you know they are always the truth as close as can be related.
But scoot and strokster have been known to prevaricate more than a little.

Nuff said by Uf but thanks for letting me enter my two cents for whatever they are worth and I really hope you are eble to make it happen.

Well Uncle Fudd, I know I'm going to participate. I have enough years behind me to know how to put some things together, with a little help from my friends. I talked to an old buddy up in KC this weekend and he suggested a couple of places to stay. Both of them near casinos and close to KCIR. I will be checking those out later in the year. If we are fairly certain we want to do this in Kansas City, I will help out as much as I can from Dallas. I know Oklahome City has a Rod and Custom show the second weekend in April every year and those guys have a great time. We can do the same thing and I really appreciate your very generous offer to help fund some of this.

I don't have a problem with KC. I spent a week there one day.

I dont care where it is, I will do whatever it takes to be there. There is no way I would miss meeting all of you and seeing your rides. Of course KC is great for me. I am only a couple hours away. If there is anything I can help with just let me know.

Thanks Jeff. If you happen to get down to KC sometime this summer, you might check out the hotel and restaurant situation around the track. Kind of give us an idea of where to stay. We'll need a place with a lot of parking so we can take over

Well I wanted to shoot for Windy Hollow in KY...because some of the other BIG Dogs..that would like to come..are coming from Georgia, Florida, and the North East..

and dont want to make the trip to KCIR... So far I only know of Bob (Redman) in SoCal..coming...I dont know any as of yet coming from NoCal or Oregon, or Washington state?

But are first 2 Donor's for this gig..live in AZ, and WY... So I had planned spring of 09..but we have others that want it within a year..there projects are almost done...and with some shake down runs...

But with that said.. Thats one reason I put it off til at least 09..So everyone could get time from work..get there builds done..even if not painted or interior not finished..and save the money for the trip....

But what it will come down too is majority rules...and who comes up with the most paying Trucks/Cars.. As to where the track will be and the price will play a major fact also.. Cause if I drive 1400 miles...I want a weekend of racing and I'll take at least a week off from work to do some fishing along the way...

We might fall in on the tail of the BBF Bash in Owensboro,KY...that would be a hell of alot cheaper..and the guys rent the track for 3 days...

And have Diamond Pistons, Lem Evans Owner of BF Ford Dealership, and Evans Racing Engine's..Performance Crankshafts,Automotive Machine and Performance,Texas Roadhouse, Quick Fuel Technologies, and Phillip at Windy Hollow... As Sponsor's allready...

So we'll see what happens and who all is really commited to this project..Other than Brians Co, allready offered a $500 start as did his Dad..Uncle Fudd..

And a big thanks to them both...

Russ

Russ, I am commited to go regardless of where. It will be a weeks vacation for me and my bride so it just doesn't matter. If it's happening, I say let it happen and let's get ready.

My son is talking about dropping his '73 highboy engine and running gear under an S-10 Blazer. If he were to show up, would he be stoned for heresy?

Yep I'm in too no matter where we end up. I'll need every part of the 09 deadline for the 452 and upgrades or can just run stock with the 390 if it's sooner. I can't chinse on this build and would rather risk thrashing the 390 then cutting corners on the 452. But I'm in either way.
