Ha! I wondered when someone was going to revive this thread. I remember how far away that seemed at the time. I am much closer to having the engine finished, but not near close enough to "show off".

geterdone

That loud, ratcheting noise from the SW corner of the country is unclefudd snoring.
But I too am glad to see it bumped again to try to breathe some more life into the project.
I said in the beginning it would be difficult at best and it appears I was right on. But still think it would be good when it happens.

"Expenses", have become critical in my mind now with what we have for leadership of our country and the changes being made. It may get more and more difficult if not impossible to geterdone at all. May have to just let everyone know when I am traveling and meet you guys along the way when and if we are passing through your area.
I'm headed up to Wy to see the scoot the first of next month and then on through Utah, Id, Oregon and Wa for the summer.
But race or no race, even getting together in a park someplace to meet and to show off the builds and swap war stories would be better than nothing and might help more to make the trip and hold down expenses.

Job loss has hit a lot of people and everyone is doing all they can to make ends meet or to put away some emergency supplies so spending a lot of money for a nostalgia trip might not be the answer.
What are everyones' thoughts about this now?
I am still good for the original offer even if it is just to show up and claim bragging rights over a few brews and war stories. I just hope we don;t have to let it drop altogether and we ain't getting any younger. Well I take that back, I am holding pretty good but Russ and scoot are looking a lot worse for wear. IT AMAZES ME THAT I CAN MAINTAIN AND YOU YOUNGER GUYS ARE AGING SO QUICKLY. MUST HAVE BEEN THAT GOOD LIVING WHEN I WAS YOUNGER, RIDING BULLS, BAREBACK BRONCS AND TAKING NUMBERS FROM ALL THOSE BUCKLE BUNNIES. whooahh, LOL

What say you guys?

I just got the call this morning that my short block is ready to be picked up so maybe we should push this back. It was never really written in stone when we were going to do this, just suggested for June of this year. Given the current leadership of our country, as you said, things will probably be better for everyone in another year or so. Besides, there's no way I can have this heap running in just a short time.

I agree the way the economy has turned. Everyone is pretty much hurting. My wife lost her job about 3 days after my daughter was born, which she is 13 months now, so kinda put a hold on the track runs. Truck is together but fixing to change the gearing and put a lower stall in mine. But as for my truck to haul it, well it start acting like it does not want to start So now I have to look at it. Think I might just sell it and get another. Wife just recently got a new job making more money than her last And we have set our new budget earlier in the year to live off my income only so that mean more money to spend!!! SO that means a pair of turbos will be on order hopefully by July and than a engine tear down in the winter. Going to revive the old 418Fe to something a little faster. Hopefully by 2011 this thing will come together cause my plain is by early 2010 to be back at the track!

I think it is a great concept, but trying to get everyone's project finished at the same time will be very difficult. I like your idea of just getting together. With today's video technology, it would be less difficult to have everyone take their vehicle to their local track and get a video of it running, then we could all share each others success, in like a video conference.
Just an idea...

Probably a likely outcome. On the upside I got the neighbors help(skil) setting up and external 220v panel today and ordered a Miller MIG
eBay item #350176023227 MILLER MILLERMATIC 180 MIG WELDER PKG 907312
this afternoon so the show is on. Going to unload all the Mercury outboards except the 600E and make room for fun to come if the bottom doesn't fall out. As a backup I'm going with a self starter gigolo business LMAO!!! The hard part is done "decision making" now the ball is rolling regardless!! TIME TO UNLOAD, OR LEAVE THE PORCELAIN TO SOMEONE ELSE!!

Damn Kenny,

Long time no talk too !! Yeah its been crazy around here too.. As I have been out of work now for a year and a half..with no end in site as of yet...And a Temp.. set-back with a VA Hospital stay... Cardiac related... about a month ago..and they have had me doing a Chit load of testing each week to find out where the problem is at..

It Seems all the vehicles with the exception of Larry's (Freightrain) are still being worked on...Now we know who has all the money on the site !! But I just got the Ram back up and running..and the 70 F250 cracked the block over the winter...My Bad... As I didnt mix more anti freeze in with the drinking water after I got home from a quick repair of a water hose out with the wife in the fall..

So now I'am trying to locate a Reverse image "105 " block back here in the sticks.. and I may have one located..But "ll need to make the drive to Northern VA, to get it.. So everything to this point is on hold..until I get the new build done for Ol Blue..

So right about now, I dont know rather to Chit or Go Blind or Both !! But still acnt wait to meet and greet everyone..Just dont know when that'll be "

~Russ
