Ya, gas is around $3.50 +/-, diesel is $4.50 +/- (depending on which day of the week).
My local stick shift racing is absolutely KILLING me in costs this year. Had a few rain outs(actually didn't drive to one-found out soon enough), but when it costs north of $100/day diesel just to get car to the track............it's really hurt'n my pocketbook.
Any thoughts of traveling more then 150 miles is outta the question. I don't take vactions just so I can race. It's that bad.
That's very true Larry. Seeing how the price of gas was HALF when this all started. That is a concern. I think Russ told us all to just charge the gas we need to his account. He'd cover it all. Nice guy that Russ....
Diesel is still the most expensive here at $4.98 a gal. 87 has puckered a bit to $3.79 or so. 110 racing still $9.98. Ouch. I doubt we'll ever see gas a $2 a gal ever again.

I was talking to a couple guys I know from another room.. and one guy use to run 4 states ..VA, TN, NC,SC....and now he's down to running just local but once a year make the nationals in Florida.. and that only 1200 miles from here...and he said last year it cost him about $3K in all..But of course his family goes also.. and he runs an Alky Digger too boot...
I just wish everyone wasnt so damn spread out!!

LMAO Bobby it just may come to that... I was just on the Horn talking to a bud that Lives in Richmond,VA.. and raced out in KY last year...and he said then it cost him $500 in gas to and from.. and that didnt include Food , beer , and a motel room.. I'd just camp at the track anyway.... and then get a room the night before heading home...

Your not the only one in either case there man LOL.. 2 mo ago I picked up a 82 GS750E to commute to work on. Gas bill went from 15 a day to 15 a week. Big + but yeah the trade off of getting taken out is kinda ****ty. And yeah truth be told I couldn't give the ****ing job away with a weeks free smoothies haha
Very well could have been Larry!!! The wife and I have only been on 2 cruise's, and both times we were out 7 days at a time... And I always made it back to the cabin on my own but one time? This was on a Cruise with my Brother in-law and my sister in-law, My brother in-law is good friend with Mick Fleetwood, and they were playing on the Ship for that trip..and we were all parting with them after the show...And I guess I started back to the cabin sometime after 4am....and woke up in a life preserver Bin at 7am..and wondered why it was still dark outside...Well once I noticed the life jackets, I knew it wasnt my bed...and lifted the hatch....and my God there was all kinds of people starring at me!! LOL... I went back to the bar and had 4 bloody marys and headed back to our cabin... and slept it off !! Oh what a hangover!!! No more drink for the rest of that trip!!
